Immune hemolytic anemia is a rare adverse effect of ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin, which is a commonly used antibiotic. We describe a 60-years-old lady, a case of community-acquired pneumonia, who developed severe hemolysis after the first dose of ceftriaxone. Her hemoglobin dropped from 9.6 g /dl to 5.5 g /dl.

Lipidemia in the Setting of Hemolysis [PDF]
A 30-year-old man with a history of polysubstance abuse was found agitated and vomiting by a friend. Emergency medical services personnel administered midazolam and transported him to the emergency department (ED). In the ED, he received dexamethasone and antibiotics empirically for meningitis. He also received propofol in addition to the 50 μg · kg−3 ·

Epidemiological, biological and clinical update on exercise-induced hemolysis.
Exercise-induced hemolysis can be conventionally defined as rupture and destruction of erythrocytes during physical exercise. The currently available epidemiologic information attests that a substantial degree of exercise-induced hemolysis is commonplace

Microstreaming by ultrasound contrast microbubble between two parallel walls: shear stress and streamlines [PDF]
Acoustic microstreaming has several industrial, therapeutic, and biomedical applications - Acoustic cleaning, micromixing, microfluid transport, hemolysis, sonoporation. The acoustic microstreaming due to the oscillation of ultrasound contrast microbubbles in the middle of the gap between two parallel walls is studied numerically. Axisymmetric Boundary

Hemolysis Derived Products Toxicity and Endothelium: Model of the Second Hit
Vascular diseases are multifactorial, often requiring multiple challenges, or ‘hits’, for their initiation. Intra-vascular hemolysis illustrates well the multiple-hit theory where a first event lyses red blood cells, releasing hemolysis-derived products,

During an investigation in hemolysis, extending over about three years, a number of unsuspected phenomena have been encountered. The discovery of these phenomena has modified the original comparatively simple concept of hemolytic serum, so that in place of the two components at first regarded as the only active substances in such serum, at least a ...
