The hemolytic activity of suberitine
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Comparative Pharmacology, 19821. The hemolytic activity of suberitine, a neurotoxic protein isolated from Suberites domuncula, has been examined. 2. The toxin has no phospholipase A activity. 3. The hemolytic activity of suberitine does not exhibit the induction period and is completely inhibited by sucrose. 4.

On the hemolytic activity of geophilic dermatophytes
Mycopathologia et Mycologia Applicata, 197010 species each ofK. ajelloi, M. gypseum, M. cookei andT. terrestre were tested for hemolytic activity on media contamining horse, calf or sheep blood. Hemolysis was regularly produced by all species except those ofM. cookei.

The Hemolytic Activity of Epoxydammarane Triterpenoids
Planta Medica, 2004The hemolytic activity of the epoxydammarane triterpenoids isolated from the Far-East species of the genus Betula and their semi-synthetic derivatives was investigated. Comparative studies of epoxydammarane triterpenoid activities at pH 5.5 and 5.0 and at 37 and 42 degrees C showed that 3-oxo, 3,11-dioxo, 3- and 11-acetoxy, as well as 3,11-diacetoxy ...

Hemolytic activity of Serratia marcescens
Archives of Microbiology, 1985A cell-bound hemolytic activity was found in several strains of Serratia marcescens. One Serratia cell per ten erythrocytes was sufficient to cause complete lysis of human erythrocytes within 2 h in the liquid assay. The hemolytic activity resided in the membrane fraction and could be inactivated by incubating cells with proteases.

Hemolytic Activity of Antimicrobial Peptides
2016For antimicrobial peptides to be interesting for systemic applications, they must show low toxicity against erythrocytes. In this chapter, we describe a protocol for measuring the ability of AMPs to lyse human red blood cells, using melittin as positive control.

Hemolytic activity of rubella virus
Virology, 1978Abstract Hemolytic activity of rubella virus was demonstrated by chelating Ca2+ with EDTA after adsorption of the virus to erythrocytes in the presence of the ion. The hemolysis was inhibited by rabbit serum immunized with the virus. Furthermore, the hemolytic activity co-sedimented in sucrose density gradient centrifugation with the hemagglutinating

Hemolytic activity in extracts of the diatom Nitzschia
Toxicon, 1997The few reports about diatom toxins are related to central nervous system toxicity, induced by domoic acid. In the present work Nitzschia sp. (Bacillariophyceae) was studied. The cells were cultured in f/2 medium, under 4000 lux and 14/10 hr light/dark cycle.

The hemolytic activity of Galleria mellonella hemolymph
Developmental & Comparative Immunology, 1989A hemolytic activity was identified in the hemolymph of normal and immune Galleria mellonella larvae. The hemolysin was active against sheep, human, guinea pig, and rabbit erythrocytes. Hemolysis occurred in the presence of 0.04M EDTA. Vaccination of the larvae with formalized Pseudomonas aeruginosa increased the hemolytic activity.
