Cramp Analog Having Potent Antibiotic Activity without Hemolytic Activity
Protein & Peptide Letters, 2002CRAMP-18 is an 18-residue functional region, corresponding to residues 16-33 of a mouse-derived antibiotic peptide CRAMP. To develop novel antibiotic peptides possessing strong antibiotic activity against bacterial, fungal and tumor cells without hemolytic activity, three analogs of CRAMP-18 were synthesized containing either Leu- or Lys-substitution ...

Complement-Unlike Hemolytic Activity in Lobster Hemolymph
The Journal of Immunology, 1972Abstract Hemagglutinating and cobra venom factor (CVF)-activated hemolytic activities were found in the hemolymph of the lobster, Homarus americanus. The substances in hemolymph responsible for these two activities were separated and shown to be mutually independent.

Anti-Legionella activity of staphylococcal hemolytic peptides
Peptides, 2011A collection of various Staphylococci was screened for their anti-Legionella activity. Nine of the tested strains were found to secrete anti-Legionella compounds. The culture supernatants of the strains, described in the literature to produce hemolytic peptides, were successfully submitted to a two step purification process. All the purified compounds,

Mount St. Helens' volcanic ash: Hemolytic activity
Environmental Research, 1983Volcanic ash samples from four Mount St. Helens' volcanic eruptions were subjected to mineralogical, analytical, and hemolytic studies in order to evaluate their potential for cytotoxicity and fibrogenicity. Plagioclase minerals constituted the major component of the ash with free crystalline silica concentrations ranging from 1.5 to 7.2%. The in vitro
