Rat Brain/Hep G2 Glucose Transporter Gene Expression in Brain

1992
Publisher Summary This chapter presents a methodology to quantitate Glut-1 mRNA and protein levels in the brain and in neuronal and astroglial cells in primary culture. Measurement of Glut-1 mRNA levels include isolation of total RNA, cDNA probe preparation, Northern blotting, and hybridization.

Effects of cadmium on glutathione metabolism in Hep G2 cells.

Research communications in molecular pathology and pharmacology, 1996
Effects of cadmium on hepatic glutathione (GSH) metabolism were characterized in a human-derived hepatoma cell line, Hep G2 cells. Intracellular GSH concentrations were significantly increased after incubation with cadmium at 5 and 10 microM for 24 and 48 hr.

Iron transport and subcellular distribution in Hep G2 hepatocarcinoma cells.

Annals of clinical and laboratory science, 1995
Thalassemic patients with iron overload are presently treated with deferoxamine or the experimental chelator deferiprone. To understand how these agents remove iron from the liver, cultured human hepatoma cells loaded with iron were previously used as a model for hepatic iron overload.
