Presence of two different bovine hepacivirus clusters in Germany

Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2018
During the last years, genetic information of hepaciviruses (family Flaviviridae), whose type species is the human hepatitis C virus, was detected in a wide range of primates and non-primate vertebrates. Here, samples collected from 263 German cattle kept in 22 different holdings were analysed for the presence of hepacivirus N (syn. bovine hepacivirus;

Two bovine hepacivirus genome sequences from U.S. cattle

Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation
Bovine hepacivirus (BoHV) is closely related to the hepatitis C virus (HCV) in humans and can cause both acute and chronic liver infections in cattle. BoHV was first identified in Ghana and Germany in 2015 and since then it has been detected and characterized in other countries around the world, but no strains have been sequenced from U.S. cattle.

Complete genome sequence of a novel bovine hepacivirus from Yunnan, China

Archives of Virology, 2020
We detected a novel bovine hepacivirus N (HNV) subtype, IME_BovHep_01, in the serum of cattle in Tengchong, Yunnan, China, by high-throughput sequencing. The complete genome of IME_BovHep_01, was sequenced using an Illumina MiSeq sequencer and found to be 8850 nt in length, encoding one hypothetical protein.

Hepacivirus and the “new triade” : Further evidence for in utero transmission of equine hepacivirus to foals

2019
Equine hepacivirus (EqHV), also referred to as non-primate hepacivirus (NPHV), infects horses —and dogs in some instances— and is closely related to hepatitis C virus (HCV) that has infected up to 3 % of the world’s human population, causing an epidemic of liver cirrhosis and cancer.

Learning about Hepatitis C from Lung-Infecting Canine Hepacivirus

Microbe Magazine, 2011
Dogs can be infected by a hepatitis C-like hepacivirus, a newly discovered virus that is expected to yield insights into the workings of the hepatitis C virus (HCV), according to Amit Kapoor of the Columbia University Center for Infection and Immunity (CII) in New York City. “HCV research has been hampered by the belief that hepacivirus replication was
