Fluorescent Cell Barcoding of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells for High‐Throughput Assessment of Vaccine‐Induced T Cell Responses in Low‐Volume Research Samples

open access: yesCytometry Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT T cell responses are rarely measured in large‐scale human vaccine studies due to the sample volumes required, as well as the logistical, technical, and financial challenges associated with available assays. Fluorescent cell barcoding has been proposed in other contexts to allow for more high‐throughput flow cytometry‐based assays.

Detection of transgenes in equine dried blood spots using digital PCR and qPCR for gene doping control

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
DNA extraction methods for dried blood spots (DBS) were evaluated to determine the suitability of the use of DBS as an alternative matrix for transgene detection towards gene doping screening. DNA was quantified using two detection methods: qPCR and dPCR.

Interlaboratory comparison of phosphatidylethanol in dried blood spots using different sampling devices

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
In this article, we present the results of three rounds of interlaboratory comparison conducted in 2022 and 2023 for phosphatidylethanol (PEth) in authentic fresh blood samples using different types of microsampling devices. More than 20 laboratories from Europe and the US participated, and 73% quantified and reported all 12 samples covering a range ...

Beta2‐adrenergic agonist salbutamol exhibits enantioselective disposition in skeletal muscle of lean young men following oral administration

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Oral administration of salbutamol shows enantioselective disposition in human skeletal muscle, favoring the (S)‐enantiomer with higher relative partitioning of the pharmacologically active (R)‐enantiomer in muscle. This is concerning from an anti‐doping point of view because the anabolic properties demonstrated for salbutamol can potentially be ...

Further Investigation Into an Environmental Source for Aminorex

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
The results provide evidence that resedine is an intermediary compound between barbarin and aminorex in horses and that resedine can be used as a biomarker to eliminate the reporting of aminorex positives originating from the ingestion of plants from the Brassicaceae family.
