Four patients with hepatic artery aneurysm are reported. Two patients presented with abdominal pain, initially considered a consequence of pancreatic disease. A third patient had a sudden onset with hemoperitoneum and shock. In the fourth patient the aneurysm burst into the common bile duct causing hemobilia and jaundice.

The most recent report (5) included a review of the pertinent literature and a discussion of possible etiologies. Two cases of hepatic artery aneurysm are reported. The first presented as obstructive jaundice, the second as an upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The diagnosis was made by performing ultrasound, CT-scan and angiography. In both cases surgery was the treatment.

Hepatic artery ligation for hepatic hemangiomatosis of infancy
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1983Capillary and cavernous hemangiomas of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, usually follow a benign course with enlargement in the first year of life followed by gradual involution. Hemangiomas of the liver, on the other hand, can be responsible for life threatening complications in infancy.

Hepatic Artery Ligation for Delayed Hepatic Hemorrhage
Archives of Surgery, 1980Selective hepatic artery ligation (SHAL) was successfully employed to control delayed massive hepatic hemorrhage in two patients. Preoperative arteriography in one patient identified an anomalous origin of the right hepatic artery and facilitated SHAL.

Traumatic Hepatic Artery/Hepatic Vein Fistula

This hepatic arteriovenous fistula was diagnosed by a selective angiography of the hepatic artery. To prevent heart failure and pulmonary embolism developing, hepatic artery ligation was carried out.
