Role of calcium integrin‐binding protein 1 in the mechanobiology of the liver endothelium

open access: yesJournal of Cellular Physiology, Volume 239, Issue 5, May 2024.
In response to high stiffness, increased intracellular calcium stabilizes calcium‐ and integrin‐binding protein 1 (CIB1) in the cytoplasm, where it functions as a key regulator of endothelial cellular tension, promoting the expression of proinflammatory cytokines.

Hepatic stellate cells and parasite-induced liver fibrosis

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2010
Fibrogenesis is a common feature of many diseases where there is severe insult to the liver. The hepatic stellate cell trans-differentiation into a myofibroblast has been identified as an important event in liver fibrogenesis and has been well ...

Unique sequelae of portal vein thrombosis in a pediatric patient with cystic echinococcosis: A case report

open access: yesJPGN Reports, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 218-222, May 2024.
Abstract This case report presents a rare complication of hepatic cystic echinococcosis in a 12‐year‐old Latino male, residing in a nonendemic region, who developed long‐term sequelae of portal vein thrombosis accompanied by the emergence of a hyper‐vascular sigmoid colon mass.

Study on the mechanism of miRNAs on liver injury in the condition of Protoscocephalus alveolarus transhepatic portal vein infection

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 12, Issue 4, April 2024.
miRNA is involved in the regulation of liver injury caused by Echinococcus multilocularis infection. mmu‐miR‐30e‐3p, mmu‐miR‐203‐3p, mmu‐miR‐125b‐5p, and mmu‐miR‐30c‐2‐3p may serve as potential diagnostic targets for liver injury. Abstract Objective To explore the role of miRNA in liver damage caused by Echinococcus multilocularis infection.

Inferior vena cava obstruction secondary to hepatic alveolar echinococcosis: a case report

open access: yesEgyptian Liver Journal
Hepatic echinococcosis is a global zoonotic disease that typically manifests through direct invasion of the bile ducts and vascular structures of the liver, subsequently spreading to adjacent organs and tissues. Inferior vena cava syndrome resulting from

A Markov model for the spread of Hepatitis C [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
We propose a Markov model for the spread of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) among drug users who use injections. We then proceed to an asymptotic analysis (large initial population) and show that the Markov process is close to the solution of a non linear autonomous differential system.

Modeling the dynamics of Hepatitis C Virus with combined antiviral drug therapy: Interferon and Ribavirin [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
A mathematical modeling of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) dynamics has been presented in this paper. The proposed model, which involves four coupled ordinary differential equations, describes the interaction of target cells (hepatocytes), infected cells, infectious virions and non-infectious virions.
