Estimation of hepatitis E virus transmission among pigs due to contact-exposure

open access: yes, 2008
Locally acquired hepatitis E in humans from industrialized countries has been repeatedly suggested to originate from pigs. Pigs may serve as a reservoir of hepatitis E virus (HEV) for humans when a typical infected pig causes on average more than one ...

A Personalised Vaccination Program Based on Immune Reconstitution in Paediatric Cancer Survivors

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Paediatric cancer survivors often experience treatment‐induced immunosuppression, requiring post‐treatment revaccination. However, immune recovery timelines vary, and current revaccination guidelines, largely based on data of varied quality derived from studies on acute‐lymphoblastic‐leukaemia (ALL), may not be applicable across all ...

Sensitive detection systems for infectious agents in xenotransplantation*

open access: yesXenotransplantation, EarlyView., 2020
Abstract Xenotransplantation of pig cells, tissues, or organs may be associated with transmission of porcine microorganisms, first of all of viruses, to the transplant recipient, potentially inducing a disease (zoonosis). I would like to define detection systems as the complex of sample generation, sample preparation, sample origin, time of sampling ...

Vaccine [PDF]

open access: yes
Vaccination against hepatitis B using a dissolving microneedle patch (dMNP) could increase access to the birth dose by reducing expertise needed for vaccine administration, refrigerated storage, and safe disposal of biohazardous sharps waste.

Immune System Development—Pro Tips for Paediatricians

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There are many misconceptions about the immune system in children, its impact on infectious disease susceptibility and its role in the rapidly increasing rates of immune mediated diseases in industrialized societies. In this mini review, I will discuss common believes and the data supporting or countering such believes, with a focus on ...

Temporal Association Between COVID‐19 Vaccination and HBsAg Loss in Chronic Hepatitis B Infection: An Interrupted Time Series Analysis

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
In 59,946 chronic hepatitis B patients followed over 23 years, COVID‐19 vaccination rollout was temporally associated with a 56% increase in HBsAg loss rates (peak 1.27 per 100 person‐years in 2022), followed by gradual waning. Negative control outcomes showed no similar pattern, supporting biological specificity. ABSTRACT Background and Aims Hepatitis

Reactogenicity and immunogenicity profile of a two-dose combined hepatitis A and B vaccine in 1-11-year-old children

open access: yes, 2005
This study was conducted to compare the reactogenicity, immunogenicity and safety of a combined two-dose (0, 6 months) hepatitis A and B vaccine (720ELU HAV, 20 mcg HBsAg) with the established three-dose (0, 1 and 6 months) hepatitis A and B vaccine ...

Comparative immunogenicity of a PreS/S hepatitis B vaccine in non- and low responders to conventional vaccine

open access: yes, 2006
Conventional hepatitis B vaccines do not elicit adequate antibody production in 5-10% vaccinees. This trial tests the ability of a third-generation vaccine, containing PreS1 and PreS2 antigens in addition to the S antigen, to elicit seroprotective titres
