Occult hepatitis B virus infection with positive hepatitis B e antigen
Clinica Chimica Acta, 2015Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) is a marker to indicate active replication of hepatitis B virus (HBV). Occult HBV infection (OBI), referred to persistence of HBV DNA in serum and/or liver without detectable serum hepatitis B surface (HBsAg), usually has low HBV DNA levels.

Clearance of Hepatitis B e-Antigen in Chronic Hepatitis B Infection
Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1982HBeAg and anti-HBe were determined by radioimmunoassay (Abbott HBe) in serial serum samples from 22 patients who had been HBsAg-positive for more than 1 year. Seventeen patients (77%) were HBeAg-positive at onset of illness. Eight of these patients were persistently HBeAg-positive during 2.5-8.5 years' follow-up study (mean, 5.4 years).

Immunopathogenesis of hepatitis B e antigen negative chronic hepatitis B infection
Antiviral Research, 2001Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) negative chronic hepatitis B represents currently the predominant form of chronic hepatitis due to the hepatitis B virus (HBV) in several parts of the world. In this review, recent data regarding the process of HBeAg negative HBV strain selection during the course of chronic HBV infection are presented and the potential ...

Loss of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) usually indicates that hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been cured. However, little is known about factors predicting HBsAg loss in patients who spontaneously clear hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg).We studied 390 Taiwanese HBeAg-positive patients with chronic hepatitis who had spontaneously cleared HBeAg ...

Longer lamivudine (LAM) consolidation therapy after hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) seroconversion has been demonstrated to reduce the cumulative relapse rate. However, the optimal interval of LAM consolidation therapy remains controversial. We evaluated the post-treatment durability of LAM-induced HBeAg seroconversion and the length of LAM consolidation

AbstractWe report the case of a baby born to a hepatitis B virus (HBV) carrier mother. This infant had a hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) in the serum until 6 months of age. Serial sera samples were analysed for HBV markers. No breakthrough of HBV infection was detected.

The presence of the hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) and antibody to HBeAg (anti-HBe) was studied by a solid-phase radioimmunoassay in 70 patients with acute hepatitis positive for hepatitis B surface antigen. HBeAg was found in 15 of 16 patients studied within two weeks after onset of symptoms. In total, 45 patients were found positive for HBeAg.

Factors affecting clearance of hepatitis B e antigen in hepatitis B surface antigen carrier children
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1989To understand the natural history of chronic hepatitis B virus infection in children, we studied factors affecting the clearance of hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg). One hundred sixty-nine apparently healthy children whose sera were positive for HBeAg and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and who were recruited by screening were followed prospectively ...
