Hepatitis E Virus Infection among Solid Organ Transplant Recipients, the Netherlands

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2012
We screened 1,200 living heart, lung, liver, and kidney transplant recipients for hepatitis E virus infection by reverse transcription PCR. In 12 (1%) patients, hepatitis E virus infection was identified; in 11 patients, chronic infection developed. This

Hepatitis E

open access: yesNeurology Clinical Practice, 2019
We report 3 patients with (sub)acute onset of dyspnea and orthopnea caused by bilateral phrenic neuropathy as a neuralgic amyotrophy (NA) subtype. Excruciating pain, weakness, and atrophy were absent at presentation. All 3 patients were middle-aged men and had serologic evidence of acute hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection (IgM and PCR positive).

Persistence of hepatic hepatitis B virus after serological clearance of HBsAG with autologous peripheral stem cell transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Delayed clearance of hepatitis B surface antigen was previously reported in a 38 year old woman after high dose chemotherapy with autologous peripheral blood stem cell rescue.

Cutaneous necrotizing small‐vessel vasculitis induced by acute hepatitis E

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2019
Hepatitis E virus is a new emergent virus causing acute self‐limiting hepatitis, but may also cause extrahepatic manifestations. Hepatitis E virus should be systematically considered in patients with cutaneous small‐vessel vasculitis and cytolytic ...

Belgorod region – the territory endemic for hepatitis E

open access: yesВопросы вирусологии, 2019
Introduction. Belgorod region is the territory with the highest incidence of hepatitis E in the Russian Federation. The aim of the study was to comprehensively characterize the circulation of hepatitis E virus (HEV) in the Belgorod region, including the ...

Assessment of the cross-protective capability of recombinant capsid proteins derived from pig, rat, and avian hepatitis E viruses (HEV) against challenge with a genotype 3 HEV in pigs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Hepatitis E virus (HEV), the causative agent of hepatitis E, is primarily transmitted via the fecal-oral route through contaminated water supplies, although many sporadic cases of hepatitis E are transmitted zoonotically via direct contact with infected ...

Hepatitis C virus pharmacogenomics in Latin American populations: implications in the era of direct-acting antivirals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In recent years, great progress has been made in the field of new therapeutic options for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The new direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs) represent a great hope for millions of chronically infected individuals because ...

Comorbidities in human immunodeficiency virus infection are of great interest due to their association with unfavorable outcomes and failure of antiretroviral therapy. This study evaluated the prevalence of coinfection by human immunodeficiency virus and

Identification of hepatitis a virus mimotopes by phage display, antigenicity and immunogenicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A phage-displayed peptide approach was used to identify ligands mimicking antigenic determinants of hepatitis A virus (HAV) for the first time. Bacteriophages displaying HAV mimotopes were isolated from a phage-display peptide library by affinity ...
