This study establishes that the RBM25‐PRPF40A interaction modulates MYPT1 splicing, promoting the production of the oncogenic long isoform. This isoform stabilizes YAP by suppressing its phosphorylation and subsequent proteasomal degradation, ultimately accelerating tumor growth.

Adaptive mitochondrial mechanisms allow mitochondrial resilience and prevent the worsening of fibrosis, while deregulation of these mechanisms promotes the progression from no/minimal‐mild (F0‐F2) fibrosis to advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis (F3‐F4). Abstract Background and Aims Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection causes oxidative stress (OS) and alters ...

Expression and function of osteopontin variants in HCV-related liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. [PDF]
Osteopontin (OPN) is a highly secreted multi-functional sialoprotein that is widely expressed in tissues, blood and urine. It is involved in a number of normal physiological functions, but is also significantly elevated in a number of cancers.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma in a Male Patient with Early Stage (Stage I) Primary Biliary Cirrhosis [PDF]
The true incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) remains undetermined due to limited epidemiological studies and some conflicting results.

In normal hepatocytes, FBP1 forms compartmentalized complexes with PKM2, ENO1, and LDHA independent of its catalytic activity, inhibiting PKM2 activity and restricting excessive glycolysis. During MASLD progression, FBP1 downregulation markedly reduces the abundance of these complexes and releases the “hijacked” glycolytic enzymes, leading to PKM2 ...

Adeno‐associated virus serotype 2 capsid variants for improved liver‐directed gene therapy
Abstract Background and Aims Current liver‐directed gene therapies look for adeno‐associated virus (AAV) vectors with improved efficacy. With this background, capsid engineering is explored. Whereas shuffled capsid library screenings have resulted in potent liver targeting variants with one first vector in human clinical trials, modifying natural ...

Heterogeneity of hepatocellular carcinoma contributes to cancer progression
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly heterogeneous disease displaying differences in angiogenesis, extracellular matrix proteins, the immune microenvironment and tumor cell populations. Additionally, genetic variations and epigenetic changes of HCC

High‐density type I collagen promotes glutamine (Gln) accumulation–related ferroptosis of TNBC cells via the spermidine/spermine N1‐acetyltransferase 1 (SAT1)‐ argininosuccinate synthase (ASS1) signaling pathway, thus depriving immune cells of Gln supply and inducing IFN‐γ+ CD8+ T cell exhaustion in the TME.
