A study of Lagos lagoon, Nigeria was undertaken between July 2011 and May 2012 to investigate the level of oxidative stress using the levels of antioxidant enzyme activity and lipid peroxidation product, and to determine the hepatosomatic index (HSI) in the organs of selected fish species. Oxidative stress was evaluated using superoxide dismutase (SOD)

The effects of copper on gonadosomatic and hepatosomatic indices and on condition factor of Oreochromis niloticus were studied by exposing the animals to 0.1 mg/L Cu for 30 days. The mentioned indices and condition factor were calculated using standard formulas. No mortality was observed during the experiments. Copper increased the hepatosomatic index,

Measurements have been made of the annual cyclical changes in gonosomatic index (GSI), hepatosomatic index (HSI) and condition factor (K) in male and female dab Limanda limanda (L.). There is a direct correlation between HSI and K, and an inverse correlation of these factors to GSI but with a three month lag. It was also found that the lower (‘ventral’)

Pollution with MPs and health condition of herring and by-catch species like cod, flounder, sprat, long-spined bullhead, and lumpfish from the Baltic Sea were assessed. Fish were characterized by varying biometric features and condition indexes (i.e. the Fulton factor (K) and the hepatosomatic index (HSI)).

The Effect of Saponin on Enzyme Activities, Hepatosomatic Index and Growth Rate of Rainbow Trout
2014Saponin is the active matter of Verbascum plant which used in fisheries in East Anatolia of Turkey, utilizing with the anesthetic specifications of plants. In this study the effects of saponin on the enzyme activities (GR and G6PD), hepatic-somatic index and growth rate of rainbow trout were researched.

Mono-sexual trout breeding through the use of steroids is derived from the fact that female trout grow faster than males and have meat of better quality and higher carcass efficiency. Treating male trout with estradiol results a phenotypical change of sex, leading to decreased weight of viscera.
