PHYTOREMEDIATION OF HEPTACHLOR AND HEPTACHLOR EPOXIDE IN SOIL BY CUCURBITACEAE

International Journal of Phytoremediation, 2009
Plants in the family of Cucurbitaceae family are known to up take organochlorines. This study was designed to screen seven cultivars of the Lagenaria siceraria species of the Cucurbitaceae family to determine their capacity to remediate heptachlor- and heptachlor epoxide-contaminated soil.

Genotoxicity of heptachlor and heptachlor epoxide in human TK6 lymphoblastoid cells

Mutation Research - Genetic Toxicology and Environmental Mutagenesis, 2009
The genotoxic potential of the organochlorine insecticides heptachlor (HC) and its metabolite heptachlor epoxide (HCE) has been evaluated in TK6 cells, a well-established human lymphoblastoid cell line. Genotoxicity has been determined by scoring the induction of DNA breaks in the comet assay and by measuring the frequency of micronuclei (MN) in ...

Association of brain heptachlor epoxide and other organochlorine compounds with lewy pathology [PDF]

open access: yesMovement Disorders, 2019
BackgroundOrganochlorine pesticides are associated with an increased risk of Parkinson's disease. A preliminary analysis from the Honolulu-Asia Aging Study suggested that heptachlor epoxide, a metabolite from an organochlorine pesticide extensively used ...

Heptachlor, Heptachlor Epoxide, and other Chlordane Compounds in Finnish Plywood Workers

Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1991
Residue levels of heptachlor, heptachlor epoxide, and other chlordane compounds were determined in sera from 74 Finnish plywood workers and 52 controls. Concentrations of heptachlor epoxide in plywood workers varied from below the detection limit of 0.1 ng/g to 19.2 ng/g serum (conversion factor for SI units = 975 [1 ng/g = 0.98 microgram/l]); the mean

Carcinogenicity of heptachlor and heptachlor epoxide.

Journal of environmental pathology, toxicology and oncology : official organ of the International Society for Environmental Toxicology and Cancer, 1987
Heptachlor and its metabolite heptachlor epoxide are unequivocally carcinogenic in rats and mice. The chemicals induced carcinomas of the liver, which were highly significant. There were neoplasms at other sites in rats. Neoplasms at all sites, as well as malignant tumors, were increased in heptachlor-treated male rats.
