Herbicide-resistant weeds: From research and knowledge to future needs
Synthetic herbicides have been used globally to control weeds in major field crops. This has imposed a strong selection for any trait that enables plant populations to survive and reproduce in the presence of the herbicide.

Economic impacts of high labour cost and herbicide resistance for the management of annual barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli) in rice production in the Philippines [PDF]
Implications of increasing labour cost and development of herbicide resistance for profitable weed management in Philippine rice farming systems are investigated.

Biodiversity versus transgenic sugar beet : the one Euro question [PDF]
The decision whether to release transgenic crops in the EU is one subject to flexibility, uncertainty and irreversibility. The case of herbicide tolerant sugar beet is analysed.

Maize (Zea mays L.), commonly known as the "queen of cereals," is extensively cultivated with wide spacing, facilitating intercropping with legumes to improve productivity and sustainability. Intercropping systems are advantageous for weed management, decreasing dependence on herbicides, and enhancing environmental sustainability.

Investigating the cost of adaptation in Amaranthus tuberculatus populations with evolved resistance to glyphosate [PDF]
Amaranthus tuberculatus (Common Waterhemp) is a prevalent, problematic weed in Midwestern USA, where genetically-modified crops are widely grown, resulting in multiple annual applications of glyphosate.

Glutathione transferases in soybean glycine max (L.) Merr [PDF]
Glutathione transferases, also known as Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs), are a diverse group of enzymes that catalyse the conjugation of the tri-peptide glutathione to a wide range of electrophilic substrates.

Economic evaluation of a weed-activated sprayer for herbicide application to patchy weed populations [PDF]
Spatial distribution of weeds in a crop is patchy. Traditional boom sprayers waste herbicide by applying it to areas where weed density is already low.

Are no-till herbicide-free cropping systems possible? A simulation study
The aim of this study was to investigate the links between reduced tillage, reduced herbicide use and eeds with surveys and simulations with the FLORSYS model. In the 395 cropping systems identified during farm surveys the herbicide treatment frequency index increased when the frequency of tillage decreased.

Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) Growth and Yield as Influenced by Preemergence Herbicides
Studies were conducted during the 2007 and 2008 growing seasons under weed-free conditions in South Texas and the High Plains region of Texas to evaluate preemergence herbicides for sesame tolerance.
