Could adjuvants serve as an agroecological tool?

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy
Adjuvants are agrochemicals or natural substances, commonly mixed with pesticides to increase their efficacy or reduce off-target movement by modifying the physical properties of the spray solution, such as surface tension, droplet size, and ...

Thirty years of glyphosate‐resistant crops and weeds: Current situation and future prospects

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Since 1996, when the first glyphosate‐resistant crop was commercialized and the first resistant weed was reported, resistance has expanded globally. This review analyzes emergence patterns across weed species, crops, regions, resistance mechanisms, and herbicides.

Reduced Herbicide Antagonism of Grass Weed Control through Spray Application Technique

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
Dicamba and 2,4-D tolerance traits were introduced to soybean and cotton, allowing for over the top applications of these herbicides. Avoiding antagonism of glyphosate and clethodim by dicamba or 2,4-D is necessary to achieve optimum weed control.

Efficacy and Residue Comparisons between Two Slow-release Formulations of Fluridone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Residue profiles and efficacy of Avast and Sonar, two slow release pellet formulations of fluridone {1-methyl-3-phenyl-5- [3-(trifluoromethyl)phenly]-4(1H)-pyridinone}, were compared in outdoor tanks. Hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata (L.f.) Royle) and

Fendioxypyracil, a new and systemic PPO‐inhibiting herbicide for X‐spectrum weed control

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract presents the discovery and synthesis of PPO herbicide structures with a central pyridine core, showing molecular conformations, dose–response inhibition curves for PPO1 and PPO2, and comparative weed and grass control efficacy of fendioxypyracil versus other herbicides in greenhouse and field trials.

Herbicide Efficacy Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes
End of Project ReportThe objective of this series of trials was to determine if recently introduced herbicide formulations give better weed control in cereals and grassland than those presently in use.

Non‐triazine photosystem II inhibitors provide effective control of metabolic atrazine‐resistant Amaranthus tuberculatus

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Metabolism‐based atrazine‐resistant Amaranthus tuberculatus populations ACR and MCR exhibit little or no cross‐resistance to amicarbazone and metribuzin, suggesting that non‐halogenated Group 5 herbicides can be utilized to re‐establish effective control.

Comparative Response of Two Hydrilla Strains to Fluridone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Experiments were conducted in a controlled-environmental growth chamber to evaluate the response of two strains of the invasive submersed plant Hydrilla verticillata (L.f.) Royle to fluridone (1-methyl-3-phenyl-5-[3-trifluoromethyl)phenyl]- 4(1H ...

Stratification requirements for seed dormancy alleviation in a wetland weed. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Echinochloaoryzicola(syn.E. phyllopogon) is an exotic weed of California rice paddies that has evolved resistance to multiple herbicides. Elimination of seedlingsthroughcertain weed control methods can limit the spread of this weed, but is contingent on ...

Efficacy of experimental herbicide products

open access: yes, 2010
Plots were located in turf research area at the Guelph Turfgrass Institute, Guelph, ON. The site was an area of established turf (predominantly turf-type perennial ryegrass, infested with dandelion, clover and other lawn weeds) (Figure 1). Turf was maintained with typical medium maintenance turf regime: 1.0 kg actual N 100 m-2 per year in 3 ...
