Herbicide Detoxification: Herbicide Selectivity in Crops and Herbicide Resistance in Weeds

2005
Crop selectivity is important in allowing weeds to be controlled by herbicides without damage to the crop. Often tolerant crops have more rapid and complete detoxification of a herbicide than occurs in sensitive crop species and weeds. A number of enzymatic systems are able to detoxify herbicides in plants.

Weed and Herbicide Resistance

2016
Weed management in agriculture has become very problematic and costly due to emergence of herbicide resistance. A world wide catalogue of herbicide resistant weeds (Heap IM, The international survey of herbiside resistant weeds. http://www.weedscience.com. Accessed 18 Apr 2008, 2008) include more than 300 resistant biotypes and Amaranthus weed comprise

Herbicide Resistance in Weeds

Journal of Agronomic Education, 1991
ABSTRACTHerbicide resistance in weeds develops because certain weed biotypes can survive herbicide applications that kill susceptible biotypes of the same species. Resistant biotypes can become a problem if repeated applications of a herbicide are used in a continuous cropping sequence, allowing resistant biotypes to produce seed and become established.

Mechanisms of Resistance to Herbicides

1992
Evolution of resistance to herbicides by weeds in field crops has become an increasing worldwide problem during the last 20 years. Although over 100 biotypes have been reported, our understanding of the mechanisms that enable these weeds to survive normally toxic concentrations of herbicide is far from complete. In this paper resistance mechanisms will
