HH 270/110 as a Jet/Shear Layer Interaction

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
New observations obtained with JWST of the protostellar HH 270 jet and the “deflected” HH 110 system show that HH 110 has a morphology of a series of distorted working surfaces. These working surfaces appear to be “deflected versions” of the heads of the

Mapping Active Star-formation in Serpens and the Aquila Rift

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We report the results of a high-sensitivity survey for Herbig–Haro (HH) outflows in the Serpens–Aquila Rift using the DECam instrument on the Blanco 4 meter telescope. We have detected 88 new HH objects, more than tripling the total known in this region.

The Integral Field View of the Orion Nebula

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, 2014
This paper reviews the major advances achieved in the Orion Nebula through the use of integral field spectroscopy (IFS). Since the early work of Vasconcelos and collaborators in 2005, this technique has facilitated the investigation of global properties ...

Intertwined Birth and Death: A Herbig–Haro Outflow Resolves the Distance to Vela Junior

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The distance to the Vela Junior supernova remnant (RX J0852.0–4622 or G266.2–1.2) has long remained uncertain, limiting our understanding of its physical properties. Using Very Large Telescope/Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer integral field spectroscopy,

Proper motions of young stellar outflows in the mid-infrared with Spitzer II HH 377/Cep E

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We have used multiple mid-infrared observations at 4.5 μ m obtained with the infrared array camera, of the compact $(\sim 1.4^{\prime} )$ young stellar bipolar outflow Cep E to measure the proper motion of its brightest condensations.

Herbig-Haro objects around CG 30

open access: yes, 2010
In this work we study Herbig-Haro objects located in the region around the head of the cometary globule CG 30. Two sets of optical images are presented. The first set was obtained with the 3.5 m New Technology Telescope in 1995 in three emission lines: Halpha, [SII]6731,6716 A and [OII]3729 A.

An Analysis of the Complex and Compact Outflow Cavity Carved by HOPS 361-A in NGC 2071 IR

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a combined Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) and two-epoch Hubble Space Telescope (HST) study of the region NGC 2071 IR containing the outflow from the protostar HOPS 361-A (NGC 2071 IRS 1).

Orbital motion and precession in stellar jets: searching for signs of hidden companions in the inner disk

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
Many jets from young stars exhibit curved or wiggling trajectories along their outflow axis. These patterns occur in a variety of shapes and exhibit periods ranging from a few years to several thousand years.

Filtered CCD Images of Southern Herbig-Haro Objects [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1987
It is currently believed that Herbig-Haro (HH) objects are a consequence of a high-velocity (up to at least 200 km s−1) outflow of material from a young embedded star. These flows can often be detected by deep observations of optical emission lines using CCD cameras.
