The Hermite transform-applications

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1990
It is demonstrated how the Hermite transform can be used for image coding and analysis. Hierarchical coding structures based on increasingly specified basic patterns, i.e. general 2-D patterns, general 1-D patterns, and specific 1-D patterns such as edges and corners, are presented.

The multiscale Hermite transform for local orientation analysis

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2006
The efficient representation of local differential structure at various resolutions has been a matter of great interest for adaptive image processing and computer vision tasks. In this paper, we derive a multiscale model to represent natural images based on the scale-space representation: a model that has an inspiration in the human visual system.

The Hermite transform-theory

IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1990
The author introduces a scheme for the local processing of visual information, called the Hermite transform. The problem is addressed from the point of view of image coding, and therefore the scheme is presented as an analysis/resynthesis system. The objectives of the present work, however, are not restricted to coding. The analysis part is designed so

Depth from defocus using the hermite transform

Proceedings 1998 International Conference on Image Processing. ICIP98 (Cat. No.98CB36269), 2002
This paper presents an algorithm for a dense computation of the difference in blur between two images. The two images are acquired by varying the intrinsic parameters of the camera. The image formation system is assumed to be passive. The algorithm is based on a local image decomposition technique using the Hermite polynomial basis.
