Newly identified properties of known pharmaceuticals and myxobacterial small molecules revealed by screening for autophagy modulators

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Autophagy is a cellular degradation process involved in, for example, immune responses to pathogens and neurodegeneration. To identify modulators of autophagy, we developed a microscopy‐based screening assay and identified previously unknown autophagy‐modulating activities in known drugs and natural products from myxobacteria and fungi.

Differential regulation of translational stress responses by herpesvirus ubiquitin deconjugases

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Translating viral mRNAs is challenging due to structural features that may slow translation or induce ribosome stalling. The viral ubiquitin deconjugases encoded by human pathogenic herpesviruses regulate the cellular response to ribosomal stress by inhibiting various branches of the Ribosomal Quality Control (RQC) and activating Ribosomal Stress ...

Late diagnosis of paediatric HIV infection in high‐income countries: Lessons from the HIV Perinatal Virtual Clinic

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Timely diagnosis of HIV in children remains a challenge in all settings including low‐prevalence, high‐income countries (HIC). We aimed to characterize the prevalence of late diagnosis, and prior missed diagnostic opportunities among new presentations of paediatric HIV in HIC referred to an international Perinatal Virtual Clinic ...

Primary and Secondary Grzybowski’s Generalized Eruptive Keratoacanthoma: A New Perspective on Management, Clinical Features, and Prognosis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Grzybowski's generalized eruptive keratoacanthoma (GEKA) is a rare variant of keratoacanthomas, characterized by hundreds to thousands of lesions, accompanied by pruritus, mucosal involvement, and comorbidities. Our aim was to analyze the clinical presentation, associated comorbidities, treatment strategies, and outcomes of GEKA.

Effect of Belimumab on the Cutaneous Manifestations of Patients With Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The aim was to assess the long‐term effect of belimumab on the cutaneous manifestations of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods The retrospective analysis included 29 patients with SLE. Cutaneous disease activity was assessed using the Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus Disease Area and Severity Index (CLASI) and the
