Prolonged Pre‐Eruptive Phase of Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus in Immunocompetent Athlete: A Case of Delayed Diagnosis and Management Challenges

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Herpes zoster ophthalmicus should be considered in patients with intractable headache and eye pain, even without rash or classic risk factors. Early recognition of the pre‐eruptive phase and prompt antiviral therapy are crucial to prevent severe complications, including permanent vision loss or blindness.

Cytomegalovirus-Specific IL-10-Producing CD4+ T Cells Are Governed by Type-I IFN-Induced IL-27 and Promote Virus Persistence.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2016
CD4+ T cells support host defence against herpesviruses and other viral pathogens. We identified that CD4+ T cells from systemic and mucosal tissues of hosts infected with the β-herpesviridae human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) or murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV ...

Opinion and report of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) on the assessment of the impact of fox population dynamics on public health

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) can be hunted as a game species. It may also be listed as a “species likely to cause damage” (ESOD – the acronym in French), for public health reasons among others. Conversely, benefits linked to the presence of foxes are also put forward, such as the predation of rodents carrying zoonotic agents.

Discovery of Novel Pyrido[2,3‐b]Pyrazine Human Cytomegalovirus Polymerase Inhibitors with Broad Spectrum Antiherpetic Activity and Reduced hERG Inhibition

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
We designed and synthesized a small library of novel non‐nucleoside, polymerase inhibitors of herpesviruses with a pyrido[2,3‐b]pyrazines core. Compound 27, a representative of the library, were identified with reduced hERG inhibition, and broad spectrum antiherpetic activity.

Determination of the herpesviridae family of viruses in samples of periodontal tissues and study of immunological parameters in patients with inflammatory and dystrophic-inflammatory periodontal disease, associated with persistent herpes virus infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Герпес-вірусні інфекції (ГВІ) є поширеними вірусними інфекціями людини, що спостерігається у населення всіх країн та кліматогеографічних зон, мають різноманітні клінічні прояви і у ряді випадків досить небезпечні для життя людини.

Epstein–Barr Virus Sequence Variations Among the Understudied Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients of Diverse Ancestries in Southeast Asia

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 97, Issue 3, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) is associated with cancers, including lymphomas and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). To date, risk variants for NPC were mainly identified from Chinese populations, which dominated the world's total number of cases.
