Machine‐Learning Microfluidic Minute‐Scale Microorganism Metrics Monitoring(M6)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT On‐site monitoring of microorganisms remains challenging because of low concentrations, strong background interference, and dynamic aerosol diffusion, particularly for aerosol‐transmitted pathogens. Here, we report a rapid detection platform that integrates a Puri‐focusing microfluidic chip, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and ...

Pathology of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2011
Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV, human herpesvirus 8, HHV-8) is a human herpesvirus, classified as a gamma-herpesvirus. KSHV is detected in Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS), primary effusion lymphoma (PEL), and some cases of multicentric Castleman’s ...

The genome of herpesvirus papio 2 is closely related to the genomes of human herpes simplex viruses

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2003
Infection of baboons (Papio species) with herpesvirus papio 2 (HVP-2) produces a disease that is clinically similar to herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2) infection of humans. The development of a primate model of simplexvirus infection based on HVP-2 would provide a powerful resource to study virus biology and test vaccine strategies.

Crystal Structure of the DNA-Binding Domain of Human Herpesvirus 6A Immediate Early Protein 2 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2017
ABSTRACT Immediate early proteins of human herpesvirus 6A (HHV-6A) are expressed at the outset of lytic infection and thereby regulate viral gene expression. Immediate early protein 2 (IE2) of HHV-6A is a transactivator that drives a variety of promoters.

The Host Cell Factor Phosphatase‐2A Subunit PR130 Restricts Replication of Herpes Simplex Virus Type‐1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular, genetic, virological, and biochemical analysis in combination with global proteome and phosphoproteome profiling and functional assays were applied to study the role of PR130 in the context of HSV‐1 replication. The observations reveal that host‐intrinsic mechanisms regulate HSV‐1 replication and highlight PR130 as a susceptibility factor of

Herpesvirus-associated acute urticaria: an age matched case-control study. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: Acute and recurrent acute urticaria are often associated with multiple factors including infections and recent data suggest a role for herpesviruses.

A Humanized Anti‐gD Broadly Neutralizing Antibody Confers Complete Post‐Exposure Protection against Pseudorabies Virus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pseudorabies virus (PRV), an emerging zoonotic α‐herpesvirus, causes life‐threatening human encephalitis. We identified a broad‐spectrum neutralizing antibody 6F7 targeting PRV gD. It blocks gD‐Nectin‐1 binding and membrane fusion, inhibiting replication across all PRV variants, representing a promising candidate for anti‐PRV therapy.

CNS INFECTIONS CAUSED BY VIRUSES OF THE HERPESVIRIDAE FAMILY: CASE ANALYSIS IN A TERTIARY INFECTIOUS DISEASES CENTER

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases
Introduction/Objectives: The Herpesviridae family includes viruses with latency capacity, such as HSV-1, HSV-2, VZV, CMV, and Human herpesvirus 6, which can cause neurological manifestations such as meningitis, encephalitis, and encephalomyelitis.

Characterization of the immediate-early 2 protein of human herpesvirus 6, a promiscuous transcriptional activator

open access: yesVirology, 2003
In the present work we report the cloning of a full-length cDNA encoding the immediate-early (IE) 2 protein from human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) variant A (GS strain). The transcript is 4690 nucleotides long and composed of 5 exons. Translation initiation occurs within the third exon and proceeds to the end of U86.

Late Cytomegalovirus Infections After Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplant

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Graft versus host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis with posttransplant cyclophosphamide (ptCY) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) prophylaxis with letermovir have changed the clinical epidemiology of CMV infection. We studied the incidence, risk factors for, and outcomes of CMV infection after Day + 90 of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (alloHCT ...
