Natural antibody–complement dependent neutralization of bovine herpesvirus 4 by human serum

Microbes and Infection, 2007
In contrast to most gammaherpesviruses, Bovine herpesvirus 4 (BoHV-4) has a broad range of host species both in vitro and in vivo. Several in vitro studies demonstrated that some human cell lines are sensitive or even permissive to BoHV-4. These observations led to the hypothesis that cross-species transmission of BoHV-4 could lead to human infections.

Serological study of human herpesvirus simplex 1 and bovine herpesvirus 1, 2, and 4 in Kansas cattle

The Bovine Practitioner, 1989
A total of 589 beef cattle and 466 dairy cattle were tested for antibodies to herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) and bovine herpes virus-1, 2, and 4 (BHV) using the indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT). In the beef cattle, prevalence of antibodies to HSV-1, BHV-1, 2, and 4 was 34.8%, 67.9%, 36.5% and 12.4% respectively, and in the dairy cattle ...

Synthesis of 4-oxo-4,7-dihydrofuro[2,3-b]pyridine-5-carboxamides with broad-spectrum human herpesvirus polymerase inhibition

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2008
A versatile synthesis of 4-oxo-4,7-dihydrofuro[2,3-b]pyridine-5-carboxylate esters has been developed which has lead to the identification of a new series of non-nucleoside inhibitors of human herpesvirus polymerases HCMV, HSV-1, EBV, and VZV with high specificity compared to human DNA polymerases.

Assessment of replication of bovine herpesvirus type 4 in human glioblastoma and breast cancer cells as a potential oncolytic virus

Virus Genes, 2020
Oncolytic viruses have been extensively used in cancer treatment due to their tropism, selective replication only in tumor cells, and possible synergic interaction with other therapeutics. Different researchers have demonstrated that bovine herpesvirus 4 (BoHV-4), a member of the gammaherpesviridae family, has oncolytic potential in some human-origin ...

Modulation of CD4, CXCR-4, and CCR-5 Makes Human Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell Lines Infected with Human Herpesvirus-6 Susceptible to Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1

Journal of Hematotherapy & Stem Cell Research, 2000
Two CD34+ human hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC) lines, KG-1 and TF-1, became susceptible to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection in the presence of a concurrent infection by human herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6). We have analyzed the possible mechanism(s) underlying this phenomenon in light of the recent demonstration that at least two ...
