Pseudorabies virus (PRV), an emerging zoonotic α‐herpesvirus, causes life‐threatening human encephalitis. We identified a broad‐spectrum neutralizing antibody 6F7 targeting PRV gD. It blocks gD‐Nectin‐1 binding and membrane fusion, inhibiting replication across all PRV variants, representing a promising candidate for anti‐PRV therapy.

Perturbation of lytic and latent gammaherpesvirus infection in the absence of the inhibitory receptor CEACAM1. [PDF]
Control of gammaherpesvirus infections requires a complex, well orchestrated immune response regulated by positive and negative co-signaling molecules.

Long Non-Coding RNAs: Novel Players in Regulation of Immune Response Upon Herpesvirus Infection
Herpesviruses have developed a variety of sophisticated immune evasion strategies to establish lifelong latent infection, including the use of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs).

This study identifies p300 as the acetyltransferase that acetylates TBK1 and inhibits its phosphorylation. Activation of the p53‐SIAH1 axis by immune response downregulates p300 expression to sustain innate antiviral immunity. Conditional p300 knockout in alveolar epithelial cells in vivo promotes antiviral responses and suppresses virus replication ...

A beta-herpesvirus with fluorescent capsids to study transport in living cells. [PDF]
Fluorescent tagging of viral particles by genetic means enables the study of virus dynamics in living cells. However, the study of beta-herpesvirus entry and morphogenesis by this method is currently limited.

Ocular herpesviruses, most notably human alphaherpesvirus 1 (HSV-1), canid alphaherpesvirus 1 (CHV-1) and felid alphaherpesvirus 1 (FHV-1), infect and cause severe disease that may lead to blindness.

Pathogenesis of pigeon herpesvirus infection [PDF]
Abstract Experiments were designed to investigate the pathogenesis of pigeon herpesvirus (Pigeon herpesvirus 1, PHV) infection. Experimental pharyngeal infection of susceptible pigeons may be followed by viral localization and development of lesions outside the upper digestive and respiratory tracts.

This study identifies RNA‐binding protein RBM25 as a broad‐spectrum antiviral factor acting independently of type I interferon. It blocks viral entry by suppressing GTPase Rab22a via the RC3H1‐mediated destabilization of Rab22a mRNA. Viral downregulation of RBM25 enhances GTPase Rab22a expression and viral entry, revealing an unreported post ...

Post-exposure vaccination improves gammaherpesvirus neutralization.
Herpesvirus carriers transmit infection despite making virus-specific antibodies. Thus, their antibody responses are not necessarily optimal. An important question for infection control is whether vaccinating carriers might improve virus neutralization ...
