Viability of Heterodera glycines Exposed to Fungal Filtrates.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Filtrates from nematode-parasitic fungi have been reported to be toxic to plant-parasitic nematodes. Our objective was to determine the effects of fungal filtrates on second-stage juveniles and eggs of Heterodera glycines. Eleven fungal species that were isolated from cysts extracted from a soybean field in Florida were tested on J2, and five species ...

Distinguishing between Viable and Nonviable Heterodera glycines Eggs.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Greenhouse tests were conducted to determine the persistence of nonviable Heterodera glycines eggs in soil. Laboratory and greenhouse tests were conducted to determine the usefulness of the vital stains acridine orange and tetrazolium red for differentiating viable and nonviable eggs of H. glycines.

FMRFamide-like Immunoactivity in Heterodera glycines (Nemata: Tylenchida).

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Material antigenically related to the neuromodulatory peptide FMRFamide was detected and examined in preparations of the soybean cyst nematode, Heterodera glycines, and in the free-living nematodes Caenorhabditis elegans and Panagrellus redivivus. FMRFamide-related peptides were quantified by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

Glomus fasciculatum, a Weak Pathogen of Heterodera glycines.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
The occurrence ofchlamydospores of Glomus fasciculatum (Gf) within cysts of the soybean cyst nematode, Heterodera glycines, and the effects of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizae on nematode population dynamics and soybean (Glycine max) plant growth were investigated. Chlamydospores occupied 1-24% of cysts recovered from field soil samples.

Optimization of the Heterodera glycines Race Test Procedure.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Effects of pot size, length of seedling radicle at the time of inoculation with Heterodera glycines, transplanting after inoculation, type and amount of inoculum, and temperature were tested to determine the optimum procedure for the H. glycines race test. Numbers of H.
