Heterogeneous Compound Semiconductor Integration
physica status solidi (a), 2020Micro‐transfer printing (μTP) provides fast and precise assembly of micro‐components from a variety of different source materials onto non‐native target substrates such as glass, plastic, ceramic, and silicon. Retrievable micro‐components are picked up by an elastomer stamp and printed onto the target substrate with yields exceeding 99.9%.

Heterogeneously-integrated microdevices
2016 IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM), 2016The integration of heterogeneous components or materials is a promising approach to create more functionalized, higher performance and smaller devices. However, there are technical problems in terms of process temperature limit, thermal expansion mismatch, process incompatibility, die size mismatch etc.

Photonic Integrated Circuits Using Heterogeneous Integration on Silicon
Proceedings of the IEEE, 2018Heterogeneous silicon photonics using wafer bonding is reaching maturity with commercial products for the data center market being shipped in volume. Here we give an overview of recent research in the area showing record device performance by using the best of both worlds: III–V for light generation and Si for guiding the light.

Systems heterogeneity: An integrative way to understand cancer heterogeneity
Seminars in Cell & Developmental Biology, 2017The concept of systems heterogeneity was firstly coined and explained in the Special Issue, as a new alternative to understand the importance and complexity of heterogeneity in cancer. Systems heterogeneity can offer a full image of heterogeneity at multi-dimensional functions and multi-omics by integrating gene or protein expression, epigenetics ...

Integrating heterogeneous databases
ACM Computing Surveys, 1996Providing integrated access to multiple, distributed, heterogeneous, autonomous databases and other information sources is a topic that has been studied in the database research community for well over a decade. There has been a surge of work in the area recently, due primarily to increased demand from customers ("real" customers as well as funding ...

Heterogeneous photonic integrated circuits
IEEE Photonics Conference 2012, 2012Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) have been dichotomized into circuits with high passive content (silica and silicon PLCs) and high active content (InP tunable lasers and transceivers) due to the trade-off in material characteristics used within these two classes. This has led to restrictions in the adoption of PICs to systems in which only one of

Integrated heterogeneous processing
COMPCON Spring '91 Digest of Papers, 2002The supercomputing field is witnessing new processor technologies and architectural approaches that provide more cost-effective computing. The design of FPS Computing's System 500 supercomputer is discussed. It provides the ability to integrate in a modular manner the heterogeneous processing capabilities of scalar, vector, parallel/matrix, and ...

3D heterogeneous system integration
Proceedings of the 48th Design Automation Conference, 2011Three dimensional integration complements semiconductor scaling; it enables a higher integration density as well as heterogeneous technology integration. Using 3D chip stacking, it is possible to extend the number of functions per 3D chip well beyond the near-term capabilities of traditional scaling.

Integrating Heterogeneous Robotic Software
MELECON 2006 - 2006 IEEE Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference, 2006Software development for large robotic projects involves many different researchers with different programming needs, levels of mastery, and areas of research. Integrating such heterogeneous software while maintaining requirements like real-time, dependability, intensive access to hardware, etc., is a challenge in any long-term effort of this kind.
