Fiscal Adjustments in the European Union versus West Balkans economies: Evidence from Heterogeneous Panels

open access: yesEconomic Analysis, 2020
This paper empirically assesses heterogeneity of fiscal adjustments in the European Union and West Balkans economies, in the circumstances when debt crisis renewed the questions when and how governments adjust their public expenditure.

Actionability of commercial laboratory sequencing panels for newborn screening and the importance of transparency for parental decision-making

open access: yesGenome Medicine, 2021
Background Newborn screening aims to identify individual patients who could benefit from early management, treatment, and/or surveillance practices.

Heterogeneity and Cross-Sectional Dependence in Panels: Heterogeneous vs. Homogeneous Estimators [PDF]

Habits and heterogeneity in demands: a panel data analysis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Econometrics, 2007
AbstractWe examine demand behaviour for intertemporal dependencies, using Spanish panel data. We present evidence that there is both state dependence and correlated heterogeneity in demand behaviour. Our specific findings are that food outside the home, alcohol and tobacco are habit forming, whereas clothing and small durables exhibit durability.

A homogeneous approach to testing for Granger non-causality in heterogeneous panels

open access: yesEmpirical Economics, 2020
This paper develops a new method for testing for Granger non-causality in panel data models with large cross-sectional (N) and time series (T) dimensions. The method is valid in models with homogeneous or heterogeneous coefficients.

Unobserved Heterogeneity in Panel Time Series Models [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Statistics & Data Analysis, 2004
Recently, the large T panel literature has emphasized unobserved, time-varying heterogeneity that may stem from omitted common variables or global shocks that affect each individual unit differently. These latent common factors induce cross-section dependence and may lead to inconsistent regression coefficient estimates if they are correlated with the ...

Accounting for Nonlinearity, Asymmetry, Heterogeneity, and Cross-Sectional Dependence in Energy Modeling: US State-Level Panel Analysis

open access: yesEconomies, 2017
This paper provides an example of several modeling and econometric advances used in the panel estimation of energy demand elasticities. The paper models the demand of total, industrial, and transport energy consumption and residential and commercial ...

Micro versus macro cointegration in heterogeneous panels [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Econometrics, 2010
We consider the issue of cross-sectional aggregation in nonstationary and heterogeneous panels where each unit cointegrates. We derive asymptotic properties of the aggregate estimate, and necessary and sufficient conditions for cointegration to hold in the aggregate relationship.

Common Correlated Effects Estimation for Dynamic Heterogeneous Panels with Non-Stationary Multi-Factor Error Structures

open access: yesEconometrics, 2022
In this paper, we consider the estimation of a dynamic panel data model with non-stationary multi-factor error structures. We adopted the common correlated effect (CCE) estimation and established the asymptotic properties of the CCE and common correlated

Inference on heterogeneous treatment effects in high‐dimensional dynamic panels under weak dependence

open access: yesQuantitative Economics, 2023
This paper provides estimation and inference methods for conditional average treatment effects (CATE) characterized by a high‐dimensional parameter in both homogeneous cross‐sectional and unit‐heterogeneous dynamic panel data settings.
