Draft Genome Sequence of Photorhabdus luminescens Strain BA1, an Entomopathogenic Bacterium Isolated from Nematodes Found in Egypt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Photorhabdus luminescens strain BA1 is an entomopathogenic bacterium that forms a symbiotic association with Heterorhabditis nematodes. We report here a 5.0-Mbp draft genome sequence for P.

Biological Pesticides as Viable Alternative to Synthetic Pesticides for Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The overuse of synthetic pesticides in agriculture has raised significant environmental and health concerns. Biopesticides have emerged as viable, environmentally compatible alternatives. However, recent comprehensive reviews integrating all biopesticide categories and emphasizing their contribution to synthetic‐pesticide‐free and health‐safe ...

Enhancing Stored Wheat Shelf Life: Advances in Storage Technologies, Integrated Pest Management, and Climate‐Responsive Approaches

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, Volume 15, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent advances in agricultural production and storage systems have contributed to a significant enhancement in annual wheat production and preservation, aimed at satisfying increasing consumer demands. Despite such potential developments, there are still significant post‐harvest losses in stored wheat, induced by destructive pests, grain ...

ISOLASI NEMATODA PATOGEN SERANGGA STEINERNEMA DAN HETERORHABDITIS

open access: yesJurnal Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan Tropika, 2007
Isolation of Entomopathogenic Nematodes Steinernema and Heterorhabditis. Entomopathogenic nematodes from the genus Steinernema and Heterorhabditis (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae) are promising biological control agent of insect pests.

Host preferences of non‐native Acalolepta aesthetica (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) on the Island of Hawaiʻi

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 149-159, May 2026.
Acalolepta aesthetica is a non‐native cerambycid established on the Island of Hawaiʻi. We show its preferred hosts are woody species that are highly valued for agricultural, horticultural and cultural uses. We used a resource selection function to estimate host preferences and found that kukui (Aleurites moluccanus), the state tree, was preferred ...

Infective juveniles of entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernema and Heterorhabditis) secrete ascarosides and respond to interspecific dispersal signals.

open access: yesJournal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2019
Ascarosides are a modular series of signalling molecules that are widely conserved in nematodes where they function as pheromones with both behavioural and developmental effects.

Field Persistence of \u3ci\u3eSteinernema Carpocapsa\u3c/i\u3e Weiser (Ny001), \u3ci\u3eSteinernema Feltiae\u3c/i\u3e Filipjev (Valko) and \u3ci\u3eHeterorhabditis Bacteriophora\u3c/i\u3e Poinar (Oswego) in Alfalfa Fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The long term field persistence of Steinernema carpocapsae Weiser, strain NY001, S. feltiae Filipjev, strain Valko and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Poinar, strain Oswego was investigated in an alfalfa field infested by the alfalfa snout beetle ...

A systematic review on research trends and commercialised entomopathogenic nematodes: A global perspective

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 298-313, May 2026.
Out of 136 identified EPNs, only 18 (8 Steinernema and 6 Heterorhabditis) are commercialised globally, highlighting a major gap between discovery and application. High production costs and inconsistent field efficacy are the leading obstacles to the widespread commercialisation of EPN‐based biocontrol products.

Virulence of new strain of Heterorhabditis bacteriophora from Croatia against Lasioptera rubi

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2019
Soil samples from 100 cultivated and natural sites were assessed for the presence of entomopathogenic nematodes. Heterorhabditid nematodes were recovered from three soil samples during spring months, with the overall positive sample rate of 3%.
