Activity and infectivity of four isolates of Heterorhabditis spp
Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1989Abstract Four unidentified isolates (three Dutch and one Italian) of Heterorhabditis spp. were compared using Galleria mellonella larvae as host. The isolates differed in the ability of infective juveniles to find and/or enter larvae in moist sand at 12°C. When three monoxenic infective juveniles were injected into the hemocoel of G. mellonella

Abstract A new species of nematode in the genus Heterorhabditis was found in the northern part of the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. Morphological and molecular data indicate that this nematode is a new species. The new species is described as Heterorhabditis mexicana n. sp. and is a sister taxon to H.

AbstractA new entomopathogenic nematode species ofHeterorhabditis, described asH. pakistanensen. sp., was isolated from soil samples around the roots of grass at Malir, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The new species is characterized morphologically by features of males: body size 819 μm (720–1013 μm), D% ((distance from anterior end to excretory pore ...

Six Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterial strains isolated fromHeterorhabditis amazonensisentomopathogenic nematodes were characterized to determine their taxonomic position. 16S rRNA andgyrBgene sequences indicate that they belong to the classGammaproteobacteria, familyMorganellaceaeand genusPhotorhabdus, and that some of them are conspecifics.

Control of the live-wood tea termite Glyptotermes dilatatus using Heterorhabditis Sp. (Nemat.)
Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment, 1987Abstract Glyptotermes dilatatus is the main pest of the lowland-grown tea in Sri Lanka, affecting some 42 000 ha. Infested bushes suffer debilitation of their structure, loss of yield and death. The concealed habit of Glyptotermes and its social organization makes it difficult to control by chemical, classical biological and other conventional ...

Abstract Heterorhabditis sp. nematodes were added to dishes containing coffee berries infested with Hypothenemus hampei , the coffee berry borer. The nematodes caused significant mortality of both adult and larval berry borers. Nematodes were found in hosts 8 days postintroduction.

AbstractA new Heterorhabditis species of entomopathogenic nematode was isolated from soil of the Atacama Desert in Chile. The new species is characterized by morphometrics of the infective juvenile (IJ) with length (L) = 611 (578–666) μm, head to excretory pore length (EP) = 115 (101–126) μm, tail = 69 (62–79) μm long, (EP/tail) × 100 (E%) = 165 (149 ...

AbstractA survey of entomopathogenic nematodes in Vietnam yielded several Heterorhabditis isolates. The majority belonged to H. indica; their morphometrics are given in this paper. Three isolates collected in forests in Backan, Ninhbinh and Kontum provinces, Vietnam are here described as a new species Heterorhabditis baujardi sp. n.

Nitidulid beetles (Coleoptera) are considered serious pests of date palms throughout the world. They attack the ripe fruit, causing it to rot, and damage is reflected in both reduced yield and lower fruit quality. Previous studies demonstrated the susceptibility of larvae of this pest to entomopathogenic nematodes from the genus Heterorhabditidis.
