Substrates for storing entomopathogenic nematodes (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae, Heterorhabditidae) Substratos para armazenar nematóides entomopatogênicos (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae, Heterorhabditidae)

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2010
The survival of entomopathogenic nematodes under laboratory conditions is low. With the aim of evaluating substrates to extend the survival of entomopathogenic nematodes, suspensions of Heterorhabditis sp.

Isolation and evaluation of bacteria associated with entomopathogenic nematode Heterorhabditis spp. against the spider mite, Tetranychus truncatus Ehara (Acari: Tetranychidae)

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Biological Pest Control, 2022
Background Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) belonging to the Heterorhabditis spp. harbour symbiotically associated bacteria which are toxic to a wide range of insect pests.

Structural and functional characterization of the newly identified Photorhabdus laumondii tumor necrosis factor‐like lectin

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 4, Page 1168-1190, February 2026.
We characterize the PLTL lectin from Photorhabdus laumondii, which adopts a unique TNF‐like fold. Binding assays reveal a preference for branched histo‐blood group oligosaccharides. Protein crystallography uncovers a novel hexameric assembly and identifies key residues involved in carbohydrate recognition.

Entomopathogens Isolated from Invasive Ants and Tests of Their Pathogenicity

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, 2012
Some ant species cause severe ecological and health impact in urban areas. Many attempts have been tested to control such species, although they do not always succeed.

Virulence of nematodes against larvae of the south-American fruit fly in laboratory using soil from Porto Amazonas, Paraná, Brazil, as substrate

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2015
: Anastrepha fraterculus is an important orchard pest. Its management has been based in chemical sprays, but biological control is a growing demand. The objective of this work was to evaluate, under laboratory conditions, the virulence of eight nematode

Tri‐trophic interactions of soil mite Sancassania polyphyllae (Acari: Acaridae) with fungal biocontrol agents

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Mycophagous invertebrates can significantly impact the efficacy of fungal biocontrol agents; yet the interaction between these agents and Sancassania polyphyllae (Acari: Acaridae), commonly found in soil ecosystems, remains poorly understood. Our study demonstrates that Sa.

Entomopathogenic Nematodes Induce Metabolic Reallocation in Maize Roots Without Altering the Performance of Two Root Herbivores, Diabrotica virgifera and Diabrotica balteata

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 48, Issue 12, Page 8561-8572, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are key biological control agents in agriculture, but their direct effects on plant metabolism and resistance to herbivory remain underexplored. By combining transcriptomic, metabolomic, and herbivore assays, this study aimed at providing a holistic description of maize root responses to EPNs and to assess ...
