Heterostructure-Induced Light Absorption and Charge-Transfer Optimization of a TiO2 Photoanode for Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting

open access: yes, 2021
Rutile titanium dioxide (TiO2) exhibits excellent photoelectrochemical properties but limited photocatalytic performance due to its large band gap and fast electron–hole recombination.

Di-Chromatic InGaN Based Color Tuneable Monolithic LED with High Color Rendering Index

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
We demonstrate a phosphor free, dichromatic GaN-based monolithic white LED with vertically stacked green and blue emitting multiple quantum wells. The optimal thickness of GaN barrier layer between green and blue quantum wells used is 8 nm.

Vertical Cavity With a Chirped Heterostructure Dual-Period High-Contrast Grating

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
A vertical cavity using a chirped heterostructure dual-period high-contrast grating (HCG) by simple fabrication is demonstrated. The reflectivity spectra of the vertical cavity were measured, consistent well with the calculated results.

Semiconductor nanowire heterostructures [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2004
Recent progress on the synthesis and characterization of semiconductor nanowire heterostructures is reviewed. We describe a general method for heterostructure synthesis based on chemical vapour deposition and the vapour-liquid-solid growth of crystalline semiconducting nanowires.

WS2-Graphene van der Waals Heterostructure as Promising Anode Material for Lithium-Ion Batteries: First Principles Approach

open access: yes, 2023
In this work, we report the results of density functional theory (DFT) calculations on van der Waals (VdW) heterostructure formed by vertically stacking single-layers of tungsten disulfide and graphene (WS2/graphene) for employing them in Lithium-ion ...
