Heterostructure Induced Dispersive Shear Bands in Heterostructured Cu
Abstract Here we report the formation of dispersive shear bands in a heterostructured Cu composed of coarse-grained (CG) and ultrafine-grained (UFG) domains. Microscale digital image correlation revealed that dense shear bands evolved in a stable manner over the whole gauge section.

Bilayer Wigner crystals in a transition metal dichalcogenide heterostructure [PDF]
One of the first theoretically predicted manifestations of strong interactions in many-electron systems was the Wigner crystal1–3, in which electrons crystallize into a regular lattice.

Tin monochalcogenide heterostructures as mechanically rigid infrared bandgap semiconductors
Based on first-principles density functional calculations, we show that SnS and SnSe layers can form mechanically rigid heterostructures with the constituent puckered or buckled monolayers.
