Nonlinear thermoelectric response due to energy-dependent transport properties of a quantum dot

open access: yes, 2015
Quantum dots are useful model systems for studying quantum thermoelectric behavior because of their highly energy-dependent electron transport properties, which are tunable by electrostatic gating.

Heteroepitaxial growth of ZnO branches selectively on TiO2 nanorod tips with improved light harvesting performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A seeded heteroepitaxial growth of ZnO nanorods selectively on TiO2 nanorod tips was achieved by restricting crystal growth on highly hydrophobic TiO2 nanorod film surfaces.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Improved tensile properties in heterostructured 1050/7050 Al sheets produced by accumulative roll bonding

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
Tougher and stronger alloys are desired for structural applications, but the strength-ductility trade-off limits it. In order to overcome this issue, heterogeneous structures can be developed in high-strength materials to restore an acceptable ductility ...

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

Influence of strength difference between soft and hard zones on hetero-deformation induced strengthening effect: Taking heterostructured β Ti alloy as an example

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The large strength difference between soft and hard zones in heterostructured materials is a double-edged sword: on the one hand, the effective back (τb) and forward stress (τf) are generated to produce hetero-deformation induced (HDI) strengthening and ...

Ultrastable Photoactive Halide Perovskite Nanocrystal‐Sensitized SnO2 Nanorods for Room‐Temperature NO2 Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Metal oxide (MOx)‐based NO2 gas sensors typically require high temperatures or ultraviolet light, limiting their practical use. To enable visible‐light activation at room temperature, efficient and stable photosensitizers should be integrated with nanostructured MOx hosts.
