Mapping Nanoscale Buckling in Atomically Thin Cr2Ge2Te6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic‐resolution STEM is used to resolve nanoscale buckling in monolayer Cr2Ge2Te₆. A noise‐robust image analysis reconstructs three‐dimensional lattice distortions from single plan‐view images, revealing pronounced defect‐driven nm‐scale out‐of‐plane buckling.

Heterostructures of skutterudites and germanium antimony tellurides – structure analysis and thermoelectric properties of bulk samples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Heterostructures of germanium antimony tellurides with skutterudite-type precipitates are promising thermoelectric materials due to low thermal conductivity and multiple ways of tuning their electronic transport properties.

Charge transfer in heterostructures of strongly correlated materials [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2008
In this manuscript, recent theoretical investigations by the authors in the area of oxide multilayers are briefly reviewed. The calculations were carried out using model Hamiltonians and a variety of non-perturbative techniques. Moreover, new results are also included here. They correspond to the generation of a metallic state by mixing insulators in a

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Molecular Templating Enables Precise CeNiC2/Ni Heterostructures for Efficient Alkaline Hydrogen Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A series of Bi‐TMCs‐based heterostructures (CeNiC2/Ni‐x%) have been precisely constructed through a “molecular‐template”‐assisted strategy, which exhibits remarkable alkaline HOR performance derived from the strong synergy between Ni and CeNiC2 components.

In situ controlled rapid growth of novel high activity TiB2/(TiB2–TiN) hierarchical/heterostructured nanocomposites

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2017
In this work, a reaction coupling self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (RC-SHS) method was developed for the in situ controlled synthesis of novel, high activity TiB2/(TiB2–TiN) hierarchical/heterostructured nanocomposites using TiO2, Mg, B2O3 ...
