Statistical Kinetics of Hevea Rubber Cyclization

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1951
Abstract Rubber cyclization provides a useful illustration of statistical effects intervening in the reactions of long-chain polymers. Analogously to the known cyclizations of simple diisoprenic terpenes, each individual cyclization act links two adjacent isoprene units in the rubber chain into a six-membered ring.

Funtumia and Ceara Vs. Hevea

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1944
Abstract It has to be admitted that both Ceara and Funtumia have some advantages over Hevea. Neither is so exacting regarding climate, and Ceara will thrive on soil unsuitable for Hevea. Ceara has the advantage of quick growth, and Funtumia yields an appreciable amount of rubber per tapping per tree.
