Atmospheric Deposition of Organic Pollutants: A Comprehensive Review of Sampling and Analytical Methodologies

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Atmospheric deposition of organic pollutants plays a crucial role in the transport and fate of contaminants in the environment, with implications for ecosystem health and human exposure. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and microplastics are increasingly recognized as transboundary threats due to ...

Analysis of the Influence of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus Strains on Changes in the Hexachlorobenzene Content in Fermented Mare Milk during Refrigerated Storage

open access: yesMolecules
(1) Background: Hexachlorobenzene (HCB) is a persistent organic pollutant that is possibly carcinogenic to humans. It is still found in the environment, humans and animals, and in foods, including milk and dairy products; (2) Methods: The influence of ...

Mechanochemical Near‐Ambient Synthesis of C2N Materials From HAT‐CN and its Precursors

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 9, 14 May 2026.
The synthesis of C2N‐type materials was dominated by temperature‐based materials. Herein, we present two innovative mechanochemical pathways to synthesize those materials, revealing the significant impact of energy input per single‐impact on the structure and yield.

Impact of organic pollutants on phenotype and gene expression in human breast cancer cells

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, Volume 46, Issue 5, Page 1487-1505, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Human exposure to industrial chemical compounds is widespread and, although often beneficial, prolonged contact may contribute to disease development, including cancer. While many studies have shown organic pollutants (OP) are cytotoxic, few have explored how long‐term exposure alters cell phenotype.

The 2024 European Union report on pesticide residues in food

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Under European Union legislation (Article 32, Regulation (EC) No 396/2005), the European Food Safety Authority publishes an annual report assessing pesticide residue levels in food. In 2024, 9842 samples were analysed as part of the EU‐coordinated multiannual control programme subset, of which 1.2% were found to be non‐compliant.

Monitoring of Organochlorine Pesticide and Polychlorinated Biphenyl Residues in Common Swifts (Apus apus) in the Region of Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2021
The use of pesticides is associated with the decline of several avian species. In this study, we monitored the organochlorine contaminants in common swifts (Apus apus) in the years 2016 to 2018.

Spatial Distribution of Organochlorine Pesticide Serum Concentrations in Mexican Children and Adolescents Living in and Out the Polluted Atoyac Watershed Basin

open access: yesGeoHealth, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The Atoyac river basin is one of the most polluted watershed basins in Mexico. Recent studies have reported the presence of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in this highly urbanized region through environmental monitoring, raising concerns about potential health risks, particularly for children and adolescents.

Dithionite promoted microbial dechlorination of hexachlorobenzene while goethite further accelerated abiotic degradation by sulfidation in paddy soil

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2023
It is of great scientific and practical importance to explore the mechanisms of accelerated degradation of Hexachlorobenzene (HCB) in soil. Both iron oxide and dithionite may promote the reductive dechlorination of HCB, but their effects on the microbial

Effect of hexachlorobenzene on haem synthesis [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1972
Several drugs are known to induce the liver microsomal mixed-function oxidase system when administered in vivo or even in vitro in cell culture. A sequence of events has been suggested in which the drug is visualized to induce δ-aminolaevulinate synthetase, the first and rate-limiting enzyme of the haem-biosynthetic pathway, which is followed by ...
