A Common Assessment Space for Different Sensor Structures

open access: yesProceedings, 2017
The study of the evolution process of our visual system indicates the existence of variational spatial arrangement; from densely hexagonal in the fovea to a sparse circular structure in the peripheral retina. [...]

Tuning Separator Chemistry: Improving Zn Anode Compatibility via Functionalized Chitin Nanofibers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanochitin derived from waste shrimp shells is used to fabricate separators for aqueous zinc batteries. By tuning the density of amine and carboxylic surface groups, water mobility at the separator interface is controlled, promoting uniform zinc deposition, suppressing dendrite growth, and enabling exceptional cycling stability exceeding 2000 h ...

Biologically Inspired Hexagonal Deep Learning for Hexagonal Image Generation

open access: yes
Whereas conventional state-of-the-art image processing systems of recording and output devices almost exclusively utilize square arranged methods, biological models, however, suggest an alternative, evolutionarily-based structure.

Spectrum of Matching Forcing Numbers of a Hexagonal System with a Forcing Edge

open access: yes, 2020
The forcing number of a Kekulé structure of a hexagonal system is the smallest number of double bonds that determine the entire Kekulé structure. It is known that the maximum forcing number equals the Clar number for any hexagonal systems.

Phase content of metal-matrix composites of the system Fe-W-C which are formed by plasma precipitation

open access: yesВестник Донского государственного технического университета, 2018
Melt crystallization peculiarities of the system have been investigated by means of X-Ray diffraction and microstructure analysis. It is shown that content changing of hexagonal tungsten carbide in the mixture essentially influences processes of phases ...

Nanoengineered Binetworks in Multifunctional Anionic Block Polymer Mesoblends for Improved Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoblends consist of a nanostructured polymer into which a second polymer is imbibed with a selective solvent. In this work, a solvent‐templatable pentablock terpolymer possessing a sulfonated midblock is modified with a hydrophilic polymer that is photocrosslinked in situ, yielding a hierarchical binetwork.
