Hexagonal Network Organization of Dye-Loaded Zeolite L Crystals by Surface-Tension-Driven Autoassembly

open access: yes, 2006
Highly fluorescent dye-loaded zeolite L crystals, approximately 1.4 mu m long and 650 nm in diameter, are organized in a hexagonal network by a surface-tension-driven autoassembly process. A polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film presenting a trigonal ordering

Enhancing Signal-to-Noise Ratio in Vehicle-to-Vehicle Visible Light Communication Systems Through Diverse LED Array Transmitter Geometries

open access: yesJournal of Sensor and Actuator Networks
In this paper, a novel method is introduced to enhance the performance of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) visible light communication (VLC) by employing different transmitter (Tx) light-emitting diode (LED) array arrangements with different LED orientations ...

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...

Polaritonic non-Hermitian system with single hexagonal microcavity

open access: yes, 2022
Exciton-polaritons are quasi-particles having hybrid nature of excitons and photons, they can be created and condense into a coherent ground state within a strongly coupled microcavity and can be directly interactive.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Matching Forcing Polynomials of Constructable Hexagonal Systems

open access: yesMatch Communications in Mathematical and in Computer Chemistry, 2022
Harary et al. put forward the concept on the minimum cardinality over all subsets of perfect matching M that are not included by any other ones, to be the forcing number for M. A counting polynomial for perfect matchings possessing the same forcing number was introduced by Zhang et al., using the name `forcing polynomial'.

Stability and Hopf bifurcation in an hexagonal governor system

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper we study the Lyapunov stability and the Hopf bifurcation in a system coupling an hexagonal centrifugal governor with a steam engine. Here are given sufficient conditions for the stability of the equilibrium state and of the bifurcating ...

Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.

First-principles determination of band-to-band electronic transition energies in cubic and hexagonal AlGaInN alloys

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
We provide approximate quasiparticle-corrected band gap energies for quaternary cubic and hexagonal AlxGayIn1–x–yN semiconductor alloys, employing a cluster expansion method to account for the inherent statistical disorder of the system.
