Ultrasonic studies of n-hexane-perfluoro n-hexane mixtures

Molecular Physics, 1980
Ultrasonic absorption and velocity measurements over the frequency range 1 to 10 MHz at 303 K on mixtures of n-hexane and perfluoro-n-hexane confirm the existence of a rotational isomeric relaxation in the perfluoro-compound, and give evidence of a structural relaxation in the liquid mixtures.

n‐Hexane Polyneuropathy†

Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, 1969
SummaryNinety‐three cases of intoxication polyneuropathy occured among household workers exposed to excess concentrations of the n‐hexane vapor over several months or more. The chief manifestation was polyneuropathy of glove‐and‐stocking type. According to the mode of involvement, they were classified into three groups: sensory polyneuropathy 53 cases,

Molecular properties of hexane

Journal of Modern Optics, 1999
The physical nature and properties of hexane as a laser dye solvent are discussed. Experimental facts and the dependence of the optical and electrical parameters on wavelength and temperature are provided. Additionally, high accurate calculations of more than twenty novel physical constants for hexane are given.

Nanosecond Breakdown in Hexane

IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1972
The electrical breakdown of hexane was investigated using nanosecond duration high-voltage pulses. An attempt was made to experimentally isolate the formative time lag contributions of the two major breakdown mechanisms: electron avalanche and streamer processes. The electrode area was kept constant at 2.85 cm2 throughout the study, and time resolution

Stereoselective Bioreduction of Hexan-2-one into (2S)-(+)-Hexan-2-ol [PDF]

open access: possibleRussian Journal of General Chemistry, 2018
A method for the synthesis of (2S)-(+)-hexan-2-ol, the precursor of a series of drugs, by the enantioselective bioreduction of the prochiral hexan-2-one is proposed. The use of various exogenous reducing agents (isopropanol, ethanol, and glucose) for increasing the yield of the target (2S)-(+)-hexan-2-ol and the enantioselectivity of the bioreduction ...

Solubility Behavior of Phenolic Compounds in Hexane—ethyl Acetate, Hexane—ethyl Myristate, and Hexane-Ethyl Pivalate Cosolvent Systems

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1981
Interactions of phenolic compounds 4-hexylresorcinol and 3,4-dimethylphenol with esters were studied using hexane-ester cosolvent systems by both phase solubility and partitioning methods. The data obtained by the phase solubility method were variable and could not be analyzed by any mathematical model.

Enzymatic oxidation of hexanal by oat

Journal of Cereal Science, 2003
The fate of hexanal added to flours of five different grain varieties was studied. All the flours appeared to be capable in decreasing hexanal concentration, but the abilities of oat flours were clearly the best. Depending on the oat flour used, the rate of hexanal decrease was 2.45-2.73 μg hexanal min-1 g- 1 flour when 100 μg of hexanal was added to 1

Polyneuropathy Due to n-Hexane

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1976
In 25 years, at least eight of 50 total exposed employees in a small plant developed a mild neuropathy. Studies of urine or blood for lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium, thallium, and antimony revealed no sign of toxic agents, but the atmosphere in one room contained toxic levels of n-hexane. The sourse was the glue used in the plant. Serum cholinesterase

Positronium-oxygen interaction in hexane

Il Nuovo Cimento D, 1982
The role played by the O2 molecule in the decay of Ps in air-saturated hexane was investigated by measurements of lifetime and by an experiment of magnetic quenching. The results indicate that a) O2 reduces the overlap probability |φ(O)|2 of the interacting positron-electron pair in Ps by a factor 1.6, b) Ps may react with the O2 molecule forming a ...
