Reassessing the intrusive tempo and magma genesis of the late Variscan Aar batholith: U–Pb geochronology, trace element and initial Hf isotope composition of zircon

open access: yesSwiss Journal of Geosciences, 2022
The Variscan orogeny was responsible for the formation of a significant volume of igneous basement throughout present-day Europe. Detailed understanding of these rocks has, however, been obfuscated by significant overprinting during younger geologic ...

Zircon U-Pb age, trace element and Hf isotope composition of Sepon Au-Cu deposit, Laos: tectonic and metallogenic implications

open access: yesChina Geology, 2018
: The Truong Son Fold Belt, located at the northeastern margin of the Indochina Block, is considered to be tectonically linked to the subduction of the Paleotethys Ocean and subsequent collision. Sepon is one of the most important super large deposits of

Hf isotope compositions of northern Luzon arc lavas suggest involvement of pelagic sediments in their source [PDF]

open access: yesContributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, 2005
New Hf isotopic compositions for island arc basalts from the Luzon arc (Philippines) define a remarkable sub-horizontal trend in Hf–Nd isotopic space with a small range of ɛHf (+5 to +17) associated with a large variation in ɛNd (−7 to +8). The data plot above and barely overlap the terrestrial array defined by oceanic basalts and continental crust ...

Copper isotope evidence for large-scale sulphide fractionation during Earth’s differentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The differentiation of Earth into a metallic core and silicate mantle left its signature on the chemical and isotopic composition of the bulk silicate Earth (BSE).

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Geochemical studies of shales from the Asu River Group, Lower Benue Trough: Implications for provenance and paleo-environment reconstruction

open access: yesSolid Earth Sciences, 2022
Combined use of trace elements, rare earth elements (REEs) with hydrogen (δH) and oxygen (δ18O) stable isotope composition to elucidate origin and paleo-environment-conditions and reconstruction is a contemporary trend in the field of geochemistry ...

Coupled Hf-Nd-Pb isotope co-variations of HIMU oceanic island basalts from Mangaia, Cook-Austral islands, suggest an Archean source component in the mantle transition zone

open access: yes, 2013
Although it is widely accepted that oceanic island basalts (OIB) sample geochemically distinct mantle reservoirs including recycled oceanic crust, the composition, age, and locus of these reservoirs remain uncertain. OIB with highly radiogenic Pb isotope

Selective Inhibition of Integrin β3 Topology Provides a Safer Antithrombotic Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current integrin αIIbβ3 inhibitors effectively reduce thrombosis but also increase bleeding risk. During thrombosis, high shear blood flow can directly activate the integrin αIIbβ3 via a distinct topological change in the β3 transmembrane domain, independent of hemostatic platelet signaling.

Evaluation of n-alkanes and their carbon isotope enrichments (d13C) as diet composition markers

open access: yes, 2011
Plant cuticular n-alkanes have been successfully used as markers to estimate diet composition and intake of grazing herbivores. However, additional markers may be required under grazing conditions in botanically diverse vegetation.
