Finland HF and Esrange MST radar observations of polar mesosphere summer echoes [PDF]
Peculiar near range echoes observed in summer with the SuperDARN HF radar in Finland are presented. The echoes were detected at four frequencies of 9, 11, 13 and 15 MHz at slant ranges of 105–250 km for about 100 min.

Estimating Coastal Winds by Assimilating High-Frequency Radar Spectrum Data in SWAN
Many activities require accurate wind and wave forecasts in the coastal ocean. The assimilation of fixed buoy observations into spectral wave models such as SWAN (Simulating Waves Nearshore) can provide improved estimates of wave forecasts fields.

Evaluating the surface circulation in the Ebro delta (northeastern Spain) with quality-controlled high-frequency radar measurements [PDF]
The Ebro River delta is a relevant marine protected area in the western Mediterranean. In order to promote the conservation of its ecosystem and support operational decision making in this sensitive area, a three-site standard-range (13.5 MHz) CODAR ...

HF radar backscatter inversion technique [PDF]
Methods of inverting high‐frequency radar land and sea backscatter to obtain ionospheric vertical profiles offer an important means of remote sensing the ionosphere up to thousands of kilometers from the transmitter/receiver location. This new inversion technique requires the received elevation angle as well as the time delay or group path of the ...

Target characteristics analysis for a shipborne HF surface wave radar
In this study, based on the shipborne high-frequency (HF) surface wave radar target detection application, the first-order ocean surface cross-section for the shipborne HF surface wave radar is simulated, and the relationship between the sea clutter ...

Assessment of surface currents measured with high-frequency phased-array radars in two regions of complex circulation [PDF]
Surface velocity data from two WERA high frequency (HF) ocean radar systems, deployed as part of the Australian Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS), are compared with near surface currents obtained from drifters and ADCPs (acoustic Doppler ...
