Effect of Microstructure on the Ablation Behavior and Mechanical Properties of CVD-HfC Coating

Corrosion Science, 2021
Abstract HfC coatings with different microstructure were successfully fabricated by chemical vapor deposition. The mechanical properties and ablation resistance of HfC coatings were evaluated, and the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and ablation behavior of the as-prepared coatings were investigated in detail.

Investigation on the Ablation Performance and Mechanism of HfC Coating Modified With TaC

Corrosion Science, 2020
Abstract HfC coatings modified with different TaC contents were designed and successfully deposited on SiC-coated carbon/carbon (C/C) composites by supersonic atmosphere plasma spraying. The phase composition, morphology, and ablation resistance were surveyed, and the structural evolution of the oxide layer was studied as well. Results indicated that

MoSi2-HfC/TaC-HfC Multi-Phase Coatings Synthesized by Supersonic Atmospheric Plasma Spraying for C/C Composites Against Ablation

Corrosion Science, 2021
Abstract To improve the ablation resistance of C/C composites, MoSi2-HfC/TaC-HfC (MH/TH) bilayer coatings were synthesized on SiC coated C/C composites. Results showed that the mass and linear ablation rate of MH/TH coatings were 0.236 mg/s and 1.026 µm/s, respectively.

Growth Mechanism and Ablation Behavior of CVD-HfC Coating on the Surface of C/C Composites and CVD-SiC Coating

Corrosion Science, 2021
Abstract HfC coatings were deposited on the surface of carbon/carbon (C/C) composites and CVD-SiC coating by low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (CVD), respectively. The effects of two substrates on the microstructure, phase composition and preferred orientation of HfC coatings were investigated in detail.

UHTC Coating Reinforced by HfC Nanowires Against Ablation for C/C Composites

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2017
Abstract To improve the ablation resistance of the coated carbon/carbon composites, HfC nanowires acting as reinforcement materials were introduced into ZrB 2 -SiC/SiC multilayer coating. Synthesis, morphology, mechanical properties and ablation resistance of the coating were researched.

Ablation resistance of HfC-TaC/HfC-SiC alternate coating for SiC-coated carbon/carbon composites under cyclic ablation

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2021
Abstract HfC-TaC/HfC-SiC alternate coatings with different sublayer thicknesses were fabricated on SiC-coated carbon/carbon composites by supersonic atmosphere plasma spraying. Their ablation resistance was studied under oxyacetylene torch and compared with monolayered HfC-TaC coating.

Electrospark deposition of metalloceramic Fe–Al/HfC coating on steel 1035

Izvestiya. Ferrous Metallurgy, 2023
To improve the tribotechnical behavior and heat resistance of steel 1035, composite metalloceramic Fe–Al/HfC coatings were prepared by electrospark deposition. A non-localized anode was used as an electrode consisting of a mixture of iron and aluminum granules with a molar ratio of 3:2 and with the addition of HfC powder.

Fabrication and characterization of HfC coated Si field emitter arrays

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 2003
We fabricated hafnium carbide (HfC) coated Si field emitter arrays (HfC FEAs) with an extraction-gate electrode to improve the emission characteristics of Si FEAs. Hafnium carbide thin film was deposited by inductively coupled plasma-assisted magnetron sputtering.

HFC Plasma Coating of C/C Composites

2008
The surface properties of C/C composites such as hardness and corrosion or erosion resistance can be modified by a ceramic coating applied by plasma torch. The technique of plasma spraying in controlled temperature and atmosphere, that was developed and patented by the CEA, makes it possible to apply coatings to the majority of metals and ceramics ...
