Ablation Mechanism of HfC-HfO2 Protective Coating for SiC-Coated C/C Composites in an Oxyacetylene Torch Environment

To prevent the C/C composites from ablation, HfC-HfO2 protective coating was prepared by supersonic atmospheric plasma spraying. The morphology and microstructure of HfC-HfO2 coating were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The ablation resistance test was carried out by an oxyacetylene torch.

Parameter dispersion characterization for arrays of HfC-coated emitters on poly-Si substrate

HfC-coated poly-Si field-emission arrays (FEAs) were produced, and the emission statistics were characterized using a model parameter extraction. The poly-Si, chosen as a substrate, allows the integration of FEAs with control circuits and the scaling up of the fabrication process to larger dimensions, as required by field-emission display applications.
