Extraction of ionospheric clutter in HFSWR
2010 The 2nd International Conference on Industrial Mechatronics and Automation, 2010The two main applications of High frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR) are maritime surveillance of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the remote sensing of the sea. Ionospheric clutter strongly limits the detection capabilities of HFSWR. In order to analyze the effect of ionospheric clutter, a method based on image processing is proposed to extract

Improving the Azimuthal Resolution of HFSWR With Multiplicative Beamforming
IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2012The use of multiplicative beamforming is described to improve the azimuthal resolution of existing high-frequency surface-wave radar (HFSWR). An existing method by Davies and Ward is used to improve the resolution by a factor of more than two for HFSWR with 16 antennas.

Suppression of Ionospheric Es Clutter in HFSWR
2006 CIE International Conference on Radar, 2006Ionospheric clutters from sporadic E-layer are often observed in 200 km-coverage HFSWR. One kind of the Es-layer clutters is found to have coherent time much longer than that of sea echoes. The feature is exploited in the proposal of a new algorithm to suppress this kind of clutter based on eigen value decomposition and subspace ...

Track Matching Based on ELM for HFSWR
2019 Chinese Automation Congress (CAC), 2019High frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR) plays an important role in marine surveillance and target tracking. However, in the complex environment of interference, the ship target signals will be submerged, which lead to track breakage and miscorrelation.

DFCW-LFM analysis for MIMO HFSWR
2016 CIE International Conference on Radar (RADAR), 2016Recently, discrete frequency coding waveform with linear frequency modulation (DFCW-LFM) has been proved to have good autocorrelation sidelobe peak and cross ambiguity peak. This paper derives the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar ambiguity function (AF) of DFCW-LFM.

A space-polarization collaborative algorithm for HFSWR
2016 CIE International Conference on Radar (RADAR), 2016For the high frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR), the presence of ionospheric clutter seriously degrades its capability of receiving target echoes. Thus various ionospheric clutter mitigation methods are investigated based on space domain. However, the gains of antennas in vertical incidence can lead to channel amplitude inconsistency, which can ...

Design of an IMM-NNJPDA tracker for HFSWR
2016 17th International Radar Symposium (IRS), 2016In this paper, an IMM-NNJPDA tracker was evaluated to test its capability of handling sharp turn motions for ships. With the flexibility of disabling one of the two models, two additional trackers are available: a Constant Velocity (CV) model NNJPDA (CV-NNJPDA) tracker and a Singer model NNJPDA (Singer-NNJPDA) tracker. All three trackers were evaluated

Remote monitoring of sea surface HFSWR
4th International Conference on Antenna Theory and Techniques (Cat. No.03EX699), 2004The paper considers an excellent electrodynamics model of an excited sea surface when it is interpreted by spectral components of the backscattered HF signal for remotely monitored targets. A peculiarity of the application of the electrodynamics model is supposing that the excited sea surface section is a quasi-periodic random antenna array with ...

Adaptive cochannel interference suppression based on subarrays for HFSWR
IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2005The paper analyzes the characteristics of cochannel interference (CCI) in the high-frequency (HF) surface wave radar (HFSWR), which adopts the linear frequency modulated interrupted continuous wave (FMICW). CCI will influence all the range bins, including all the positive and negative frequencies, and the negative frequency range bins contain only the ...

A Model for the Ionospheric Clutter in HFSWR Radar
2008 International Conference on Information Management, Innovation Management and Industrial Engineering, 2008In order to find an effective arithmetic which can suppress the useless ionospheric clutter in a surface wave radar system, a new model for the ionospheric clutter is proposed here. Using the multiple phase-screen method used for the investigation of the HF wave propagation, the amplitude and phase scintillation of the ionospheric clutter can be ...
