The solubility of HgS, HgSe and HgTe in Hg

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1971
Abstract Liquidus lines for Sx0−Hg1−x0, Sex0−Hg1−x0 and Tex0−Hg1−x0 systems for atomic fractions of x0 from 0.001 to 0.5 were investigated. Experimental results were compared with the theory of solutions. For the investigated systems, the entropies of fusion ΔS were found to be: ΔSβ−HgS=14.2 cal/mole · K, ΔSHgSe = 11.0 cal/mole · K and ΔSHgTe = 14.2 ...

Thermodynamic assessment of binary Zn-Hg, Cd-Hg, AND In-Hg amalgams

Calphad, 1998
Abstract A thermodynamic assessment of the binary Zn-Hg, Cd-Hg and In-Hg systems has been completed. A set of parameters describing the Gibbs energy of each phase is given. Comparison between calculated quantities and experimental data is generally good.

Suppression of superconductivity in Hg-1223 and Hg-1234 by partial replacement of Hg by carbon

Physica C: Superconductivity, 1995
Abstract Hg based 1223 and 1234 phases were prepared by a high-pressure high-temperature technique using precursors obtained by the decomposition of BaO 2 , CaCO 3 and CuO in oxygen flow at 925°C. These phases were found to exhibit much lower T c 's (64 K for 1223 phase, and no superconductivity for the 1234 phase) than the corresponding Hg based ...

Hg···Hg···Hg Interaction Stabilizes Unusual Trinuclear Double Sandwich Structure of Mercury(II) Porphyrins

Inorganic Chemistry, 2020
For the first time, fully characterized and stable trinuclear "double sandwich" molecules are reported with Hg(II) ion using a highly flexible porphyrin dimer. The molecules display interesting and intense luminescence properties at room temperature. The present investigation clearly demonstrates that attractive mercurophilic interactions do play an ...

Observation of intergrowth structures of Hg-1212, Hg-1223 and Hg-1234 phases in a nominal Hg-1223 ceramic superconductor

Superconductor Science and Technology, 1995
Intergrowth structures of the Hg-1223 superconductor containing other Hg superconducting phases such as Hg-1212 and Hg-1234 were observed under a transmission electron microscope. The X-ray diffraction pattern, the resistance-temperature relationship and the a.c. magnetic susceptibility-temperature relationships indicate that the sample contains mainly

The Volume of Liquid HgIn and HgSn Alloys

Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für physikalische Chemie, 1986
AbstractPrecise measurements were made to determine the concentration dependence of the volume and the thermal expansion coefficient of liquid HgIn and HgSn alloys. The molar volume of both systems shows slightly negative deviations from the linear law.

HgHg bonding in mercurous Hg(I)2L2 compounds: the influence of ligand electronegativity

Journal of Molecular Structure: THEOCHEM, 1995
Abstract The influence of ligand electronegativity (EN) on the HgHg bonding in mercurous compounds has been investigated by calculations on a series of Hg2L2 species. The various calculated molecular properties are strongly dependent on the electronegativity of the attached ligand, where the EN of the “central” atom in the ligand (if the ligand L is

Thermodynamic reassessment of Ga-Hg and Mg-Hg systems

Journal of Central South University of Technology, 2009
The Ga-Hg binary system was thermodynamically assessed by the CALPHAD method, but only configuration contributions were considered to the entropy of the liquid. The Mg-Hg binary system has not been assessed yet. In the assessments of the Ga-Hg and Mg-Hg binary systems, solutions including liquid and hcp (Mg) were treated as substitution solutions, of ...

Properties of Hg cuprate thin films containing a mixture of Hg-1212 and Hg-1223 phases

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 2002
Hg based cuprate thin films of thickness 200 nm were prepared on various substrates (MgO, LaAlO3 and CeO2 buffered sapphire) by a two step procedure. Both, air stable Ba−Ca−Cu−(O,F) precursor films and Re doped (Hg,Re)−Ba−Ca−Cu−O pellets were used. The X-ray diffraction analyses and dc resistivity measurements indicate that the Hg cuprate films contain
