Hemp Cultivation and Crop Diversification: Implications for Ecosystem Services in Kentucky

ABSTRACT This study examines the ecosystem benefits of expanding hemp cultivation by assessing its impact on crop diversity. Using scenario‐based simulations and fixed‐effect panel regressions with county‐level data in Kentucky, we find that increased hemp acreage tends to enhance crop diversity, improving water quality and bird diversity.

ABSTRACT China's accession to the World Trade Organization in 2001 reshaped global trade, reducing U.S. demand for Mexican manufactured goods and weakening Mexico's manufacturing employment. According to multivariable analysis conducted using a hierarchical logistic regression model, using VHH as the reference group, the odds ratios for mortality by hospital volume category were as follows: VLH, 2.70 (p < 0.0001); LH, 1.72 (p = 0.052); MH, 1.70 (p = 0.034); and HH, 1.43 (p = 0.173).

The Herfindahl neutral point: A firm‐level threshold for managing market concentration with evidence from US hog packing

Abstract This paper derives a firm‐level threshold, the Herfindahl Neutral Point, from the standard concentration index used in merger review. At this threshold, a marginal expansion leaves the index unchanged. Firms below the threshold reduce concentration when they expand; firms above it increase concentration.

Abstract Neuroanatomical research has progressed considerably in several vertebrate lineages, yet studies of reptilian brain morphology remain markedly underdeveloped. Here we provide the first description of macroscopic brain anatomy and its ontogeny in the viperid Bothrops moojeni, based on a sample of seven individuals.
