LABORATORY DIAGNOSTICS OF ACTIVE AND LATENT HHV 6-INFECTION IN PATIENTS WITH HEMATOLOGICAL MALIGNANCIES

open access: yesВопросы вирусологии, 2018
Introduction. Human herpes virus type 6 (HHV 6) can cause serious infectious complications in immunodeficient patients. It is also capable of integrating into the genome of the infected cell.

The Antiviral Activity of Polyphenols

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Polyphenols demonstrate remarkable antiviral properties by effectively disrupting multiple biochemical processes essential for viral replication. ABSTRACT Polyphenols are secondary metabolites produced by a large variety of plants. These compounds that comprise the class of phenolic acids, stilbenes, lignans, coumarins, flavonoids, and tannins have a ...

HHV-6 and Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yes, 2014
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease affecting the central nervous system, thought to be an autoimmune disease mediated by autoreactive lymphocytes. The pathogenesis of MS is multifactorial and is thought to be triggered by multiple environmental factors in genetically susceptible individuals.

Infection with HHV-6 and its role in epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsy Research, 2019
Infection with Human Herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6) has been associated with different epilepsy syndromes, including febrile seizures and status epilepticus, acute symptomatic seizures secondary to encephalitis and temporal lobe epilepsy. This neurotropic DNA virus is ubiquitous and primary infection occurs in up to 80% of children by age two years.

Antibody status to HHV-6 in children with leukaemia [PDF]

open access: yesLeukemia, 2002
Forty children with acute lymphoblastic (33) or myeloid leukaemia (seven) were studied for IgG and IgM antibodies and IgG avidity against human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) at the time of diagnosis, and compared with age-, sex- and season-matched children with various neurological diseases of suspected viral origin.

Bezlotoxumab as Treatment for Recurrent/Chronic Clostridioides difficile Infection in Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant Recipients: A Multi‐Institutional Experience

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) represents a significant health risk to pediatric stem cell transplant (SCT) patients. In these patients, recurrent CDI is common, requiring prolonged antibiotic usage and increased hospitalization. Bezlotoxumab, a monoclonal antibody that targets the toxin responsible for CDI, has demonstrated efficacy

GP96 interacts with HHV-6 during viral entry and directs it for cellular degradation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
CD46 and CD134 mediate attachment of Human Herpesvirus 6A (HHV-6A) and HHV-6B to host cell, respectively. But many cell types interfere with viral infection through rapid degradation of viral DNA.

Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) Causes Severe Thymocyte Depletion in SCID-hu Thy/Liv Mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is a potentially immunosuppressive agent that may act as a cofactor in the progression of AIDS. Here, we describe the first small animal model of HHV-6 infection.

Tethered Catalytic Hairpin Assembly with Plasmon‐Enhanced Fluorescence Readout for Single Molecule Detection

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
This work presents a single‐molecule detection platform that does not rely on the partitioning of analyzed liquid samples and on enzymatic amplification of fluorescence signals. A flexible polymer linker serves to spatially confine catalytic‐harpin assembly‐based DNA amplification.

Association of HHV-6 with Hodgkin and non Hodgkin lymphoma

open access: yesIranian Journal of Microbiology, 2016
Background and Objectives: Human Herpes 6 virus (HHV-6) could remain latent and chronic in the host cells after primary infection. HHV-6 genome encodes certain trans activation proteins which may results in development of malignantlymphoma.
