Combining Hierarchical Specification with Hierarchical Implementation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Action refinement is a practical hierarchical method to ease the design of large reactive systems. Relating hierarchical specification to hierarchical implementation is an effective method to decrease the complexity of the verification of these systems.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Distributed Hierarchical Control Framework for Economic Dispatch and Frequency Regulation of Autonomous AC Microgrids

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Motivated by the single point of failure and other drawbacks of the conventional centralized hierarchical control strategy, in this paper, a fully distributed hierarchical control framework is formulated for autonomous AC microgrids. The proposed control

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Facile synthesis of hierarchical CNF/SnO2/Ni nanostructures via self-assembly process as anode materials for lithium ion batteries [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2018
Hierarchical carbon nanofibre (CNF)/SnO2/Ni nanostructures of graphitized carbon nanofibres and SnO2 nanocrystallines and Ni nanocrystallines have been prepared via divalent tin–alginate assembly on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibres, controlled pyrolysis ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Photoelectrochemical Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling of aryl bromides with amine at ultra-low potential

open access: yesNature Communications
Photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell is an ideal platform for organic transformation because of its green benefits and minimal energy consumption. As an emerging methodology, the reaction types of photoelectrocatalytic organic synthesis (PECOS) are limited to

Robust trap effect in transition metal dichalcogenides for advanced multifunctional devices

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Utilization of inevitable defect states in 2D materials can enable efficient photodetection and memory applications. Here, the authors report use of defect-induced deep traps to capture and store carriers in exfoliated flakes of MoS2xSe2(1-x) as ...
