In this paper, hierarchical control techniques is used for controlling a robotic manipulator. The proposed method is based on the establishment of a non-linear mapping between Cartesian and joint coordinates using fuzzy logic in order to direct each individual joint.

A method of converting conventional fuzzy logic system to 2 layered hierarchical fuzzy system
The 12th IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2003. FUZZ '03., 2004To solve the rule explosion problem in a multi input fuzzy logic system, a method of converting a given fuzzy system to a 2 layered hierarchical fuzzy system is presented where the collection of the THEN-parts of the fuzzy rules of given fuzzy system is considered as vectors of fuzzy rule.

Hierarchical preprocessing of information in fuzzy logic control applications
Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Control and Applications, 2002This paper investigates the effect of information preprocessing on the fuzziness of the inference, within the context of a hierarchical control system. In a specific hierarchical model each layer consists of a knowledge system which employs fuzzy logic base decision making.

A Supervisory Hierarchical Fuzzy logic controller for power system stabilizer
2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology, 2011The paper presents a novel design of Supervisory Hierarchical Fuzzy Controller (SHFC) for power system stabilizer to damp the low frequency power system oscillations. The control objective is to enhance the stability and to improve the dynamic response of the Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) system operating in different operating conditions.

Designing a hierarchical fuzzy logic controller using differential evolution
FUZZ-IEEE'99. 1999 IEEE International Fuzzy Systems. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.99CH36315), 1999In conventional fuzzy logic controllers, the computational complexity increases with the dimensions of the system variables; the number of rules increases exponentially as the number of system variables increases, Hierarchical fuzzy logic controllers have been introduced to reduce the number of rules to a linear function of system variables.

Evolving a Hierarchical Decision Making Mechanism Using Fuzzy Logic
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2008Abstract In this study, a new hierarchical decision-making and decision-fusion mechanism is introduced for solving decision making problems in a consistent manner. This mechanism is constructed by using a genetic algorithm. The proposed mechanism employs fuzzy logic and a performance index determined based on the performance of decision-making agents

Modelling, Control and Prediction using Hierarchical Fuzzy Logic Systems
International Journal of Fuzzy System Applications, 2017Hierarchical fuzzy logic systems are increasingly applied to solve complex problems. There is a need for a structured and methodological approach for the design and development of hierarchical fuzzy logic systems. In this paper a review of a method developed by the author for design and development of hierarchical fuzzy logic systems is considered. The

Flexible link robot arm control by a hierarchical fuzzy logic approach
2002 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence. 2002 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems. FUZZ-IEEE'02. Proceedings (Cat. No.02CH37291), 2003This paper concentrates on hierarchical fuzzy logic using the singular perturbation approach for flexible-link robot arm control. A two-time-scale fuzzy logic controller is applied to such a system. A large-scale system is decomposed into a finite number of reduced-order subsystems, thereby eliminating the need for a large-sized inference engine.
