Development of a HIFU Phantom

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
The field of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is developing rapidly. For basic research, quality control, and regulatory assessment a reusable phantom that has both thermal and acoustic properties close to that of soft tissue is critical. A hydrogel‐based tissue mimicking material (TMM) has been developed that shows promise for such a phantom ...

Noninvasive thermometer for HIFU and its scaling

Ultrasonics, 2006
Acoustic-inversion method for a noninvasive temperature measurement in tissue is presented. A set of B-scan operating in M-mode was used as a signal-equipment. The echoes reflected from an assigned surface in tissue were acquired before and after heating, and the corresponding spectra were then obtained by FFT.

HIFU with Oral Collagen Vs HIFU Alone in Vaginal Rejuvenation

JOJ Dermatology & Cosmetics
Introduction: Many treatment options were tried to reach satisfactory results for patients with loose vagina in order to improve their sexual life and urinary symptoms. Methods: 54 patients with loose vagina and impaired sexual function participated in this study. Ultrasound gel was applied to a HIFU cartridge before inserting into the patient’s vagina

Critical role of HIFU in musculoskeletal interventions

La radiologia medica, 2014
Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound surgery (MRgFUS) is a totally noninvasive ablation technique that in the last years had an important development in a large number of applications: in particular gynaecological disorders, bone lesions, prostate, breast, brain and other organs. This review of MRgFUS is focused on the technical aspects and the

Salvage Focal HIFU

2015
Prostate cancer recurrence after radiation therapy might be cured with different treatment modalities (radical prostatectomy, HIFU, cryotherapy). All whole-gland salvage therapy approaches carry the potential of serious morbidity from the development of urethro-rectal fistula, severe urinary incontinence, and urethral stenosis.

[HIFU in urological oncology].

Der Urologe. Ausg. A, 2008
The growing interest in high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology is mainly due to its many potential applications as a new energy source and as noninvasive therapy. It has been introduced to urological oncology as a transrectal treatment for prostate cancer and as extracorporeal treatment for kidney cancer.
